You may want to clarify the question. I assume you're asking about keeping spam out of your inbox?

I almost died laughing when I read the thread title.

Paul, I think he's looking for something to keep spam out of his inbox so
that he doesn't have to spend so much time deleting the junk.

Oh but my goodness, the thoughts going through my head on this one.

Quite confusing indeed. I am finding hard to connect VA and spam. Is your VA spamming other sites for you?

    Hmmm..................again hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.

        Ooooh-TAY!

Most email software has a Bayesian filter available, which you can train to recognize spam and file it in a separate folder. You'll still have to go through that occasionally to find the misfires, but that's much faster than sorting it all by hand.

I do NOT recommend the built-in filters that come with Lookout and Lookout Distress. Microsoft seems to have problems getting their spam filtering right, especially for primarily business users.

Gmail has some really good spam filtering, if you don't mind hosting mail with a company that thinks everything in the world should be public. I wouldn't, but lots of people use it for their primary business address.

The most effective thing you can do, if the option is available, is to use a web host that offers the Spamhaus SBL/XBL combination to block spam before it's delivered. I've been using them for years, and the false positive rate is ridiculously low. Hundreds of times lower than my own mistake rate when deleting spam by hand.

That combo took the amount of spam I was receiving on a daily basis down from thousands to dozens. Many ISPs already use the Spamhaus lists, along with other spam-reduction measures.

SpamArrest is an option, but you need to be aware that a lot of us won't respond to their challenges. I will occasionally, but it's rare, and usually only for paying customers. Some folks don't appreciate the notion that it's our job to keep the spam out of your mailbox.
