Can I 'disable' Internet Explorer ?

INTERNET MARKETING

I'm gradually moving to Firefox and Chrome
but would like to keep IE for checking how
my web pages look.

Is there a setting I can use to stop
IE going online should I forget ?

Open IE, click on File/Work Offline. It should (!!) remember that setting and stay like that until you change it. If you can't see "file", right click in the toolbar area and turn on the menu bar
