Have a domain+hosting but...wordpress editing!

by Keen creations 9 replies
Hey guys recently I bought a domain and hosting from Hostgator and I also have a theme downloaded from wordpress.

The problem is I'm unsure how to start editing the words, pictures, and icons. Do I have to upload the files to a Ftp host? or can someone help, thanks!

You've installed wordpress ; but don't know how to edit it?

Go to your website now then type "/wp-admin" after the URL (without Quotes")

The WP theme needs to be in .zip format in order to upload from the admin panel. If it isn't, right click it and compress it to .zip. Go into wp-admin, log in and go to "Appearance"->"Themes"->"Install"->"Upload" and choose that .zip file. The theme should then appear for you to preview and activate.

Download the theme again but this tiem from inside your Wordpress dashboard on your site. Then all you have to do is click the activate button.

That is under the appearance tab on your dashboard.

You need to install wordpress first to your site. Go to your cpanel, look for Fantastico and install wordpress. Follow the prompts as you go along. When finished you can then access your WP dashboard at yoursite.com/wp-admin. From there install your theme by going to the appearance tab at the right and uploading it.install new theme. When you're finished you can then start editing/making your site.

You can also upload your theme via a FTP client like filezilla. Upload your theme in the theme folder inside the public_html folder.
