Anybody else getting nasty replies when they use Craigslist for lead generation?

by pheonix44 7 replies
I have been trying to use craigslist lately to generate leads for a service I am offering. I have found that most of the leads I get are not of good quality and I usually get back some pretty nasty e-mails from them. I have not been successful converting any of them into a sale. I was wondering is there a better way to deal with this or is this what to expect all the time.

That's pretty much because Craigslist isn't for lead generation and affiliate marketing. That use is against its TOS and the people who use Craigslist, don't appreciate getting that crap when you are looking for real stuff on a classified ads site.

When I say leads I am not talking about spamming people, I customize my messages and I go for people who have displayed interest in similar services. I was told this is the way to go, but I will stop if that is the case. Also I do not promote affiliate offers.

Craigslist is no stranger to lead generation and marketers using the service. That's why a lot of ads get ghosted now. Marketers have tried all kinds of tricks to market offers rather than post physical goods, jobs, etc.

I remember when one method was being taught ... the old free puppy trick.
Post an ad in pets saying you have a free puppy and put up a pic of an adorable puppy. When people respond, they get an autoresponder saying you are on vacation, but if you really want the puppy, you need to go > here and > buy this puppy training program so you will be prepared for the new puppy.

Craigslist has gotten very tough to use for marketing due to all the spammers. I wouldn't attempt to use it for marketing.

I wouldn't use craigslist for anything simply because they're so spam sensitive.

It really doesn't matter how much within the TOS your post is, if you're not selling something that can be picked up in a van within 4 miles you'll most likely be flagged or "nasty-gramed"

PM me and I will show you how some of my client do generate
    targeted leads on CraigsList.

It is all about only contacting people about things that they
tell you that they are interested in, and that doesn't require
    any trickery.

Please don't use craigslist anymore because it is NOT WORH IT. Don't buy anything from any guru that tells you that they can teach you how to market on craigslist because craigslist is full of scammers and spammers. It's a waste of time man. If you have any concerns, just ask me

    Take Care.

Just my opinion, of course, but I would take Willie Crawford's advice, who has been a proven successful internet marketer (among other things) for many years now, over the last guy's piddly 24 post expertise.

Second, that guru is offering free advice to you via PM, no mention of any sales product that I noticed.

If you want to be the best, you learn from the best. Period.

Craigslist isn't dead. It's changed in order to improve itself, and you have to roll with the changes, just like you do with any other medium.
