How should a teenager invest their money to start in IM?

by HowieM 7 replies
I am a teenager, who for reasons have a 4 month summer. (If you knew why, you would understand the frowny face. )

Anyway, I make about 200-300 a month with fiverr. Well, this is my first month, and I've made 228 in 21 days so far.

Other than this, I have no startup cash, or income. How should I start investing this into internet marketing? I've read so many threads and posts about this, I've become numb.

I don't want to make thousands a week, or even a month. (well I do... but... you know. :rolleyes I just would like to turn that 200 into 300, or 300 into 500.

Where do you guys think I should start? I really have no idea... I tried making my own niche website. www . yourimaginaryfriendnow . com

I spent $150 in making it, driving traffic, etc. And HOURS and HOURS and HOURS and HOURS building the website. In total, I made a $2 sell in a month... So I've let that dream pass, but it did give me experience in the IM world.

So once again, where should I start? I really want to make more than 200 a month.

Thanks.

    Hey Howie,
You've made a great start! You've taken action and made more money then many will in their first month. Fiverr is great for getting that bit of money to start with. However as a long term business it's not the best as it involves long hours and cheap 'customers'. Is there a higher price service or product you can 'bolt on' to your fiver service perhaps so that you can double or treble your current income?
Long term I strongly suggest you look at building a list either with your fiverr clients or in a chosen niche. I'll refer you to Eric's great recent post on the subject:-

    Young grasshopper,
Take about a month and look around this forum. For ideas! . A month will be long enough for you to know what direction to go in. Remember though that with CPA you get paid the fifteenth of the following month-so with that you are down to a two month earning period! . You could hire your services out and receive money into your PayPal account almost immediately! .in a nutshell just go do it you only have four months -run the table my friend!

DON'T invest your money in 'guides' or 'systems'.

All you really need to spend money on to get started is hosting and a domain.

I recommend HostGator for hosting, and GoDaddy for your domains. If you can afford it, get a reseller plan for $24.95/mo. You can host unlimited domains on a reseller plan without having to pay more. As for domains, I usually get domains registered for $7.95 with a GoDaddy coupon which can easily be found online.

Learn to use and hack WordPress. There's a gazillion free themes you can use to build your sites, but I personally like the WordPress Flexibility 3 theme. Buy a developer license for it as soon as you can to get rid of the backlinks that appear at the bottom of the free version.

Take a look at my thread on this forum that shows you examples of some of the sites that I built using this method and continually make me money on a monthly basis... http://www.warriorforum.com/complete...w-article.html

You might want to try joining several affiliate networks. ClickBank is the first one that comes to mind. As far as I know, they're fairly easy to get into. They have tons of products that you can promote in a similar fashion to the ones I describe in the link above.

I' would keep ths domain for awhile, it sounds like a good idea that could be flipped to someone who wants to be creative with it. It may no make any money now but in the future it may bring in some $$'s.

I would spend time here looking around for something that appeals to you. Do not get caught up in Shiney objects. Good Luck and welcome to the forum
