Case Study: Focus on SEO or Blog Networking for Blog Revival

Hi Guys,

I'm trying to resurrect a blog I made a few months back so far the stats are a whopping:

$105 from Adsense (12 months) and $115 from Clickbank (12 months).

Right now I'm trying to build traffic to it...especially that i've made a free ebook available already which I laced with affiliate links and I plan to do one more major one which I can spray with affiliate links as well.

I'm confused about whether I should spend more time Blog Networking or the mechanical SEO-ing gaining keyword targeted links via article submission ,etc.

For example:

I'd like to network to hopefully leverage some traffic from them and possibly gain "new readers".

but I can also focus on ranking my review pages on the search engines to increase my sales.

Help Anyone?

I plan on making this a live case study...i promise to post updates to this thread on what's happening to my blog and some stats.

If anyone wants to take a look at the blog i'm reviving it's at wowfreetrial dot info (i don't want to put the link here for fear that the admins will delete this.

The site is currently getting 100 visitors / day but some of these are wordpress spammers. I'd like to really boost my traffic with an initial goal of +20% to 100% in the short term with a long-term goal of hopefully getting to 1,000 visitors/day.

Appreciate any help you can give me! Watch me take action

Cheers!

I would probably go after search engine traffic because it is a lot more targeted (in most cases) than social traffic. Just my opinion though

From my opinion, SEO is really a tough thing to do in your niche because WOW is a very competitive niche and many experts are doing well in that area. This is my recommendation:

    1. Focus on your niche. If you are writing guides for wow mini games, focus just on one of them. I could be dota, footman, TD, etc. Focus on one!

    2. Write more good guides. The good guides I mean here are really good guides.

    3. Participate in WOW forums and blogs and network with the key people.

If these people find that you content is good, they will send traffic to you and recommend your blog to others!

Have you considered using article marketing to build up backlinks/get new visitors to your blog?

Doing a little research, you can come up with a list of long tail keyword phrases that are getting searches for, but which don't have much competition (ie. the low hanging fruit).

If you do things correctly, you can get an instant rise in targeted visitors (from the artcle readers), plus the additional backlinks you create will help your blog rise higher in the search engines results.

    Do keep us posted.
