IMarketer Wanna be need advise

Dear All,

Apologize if there were any similar post before. But I really confused with IM, though I still want to learn and be full time IMarketer.

The problem is, there are too much information about IM on the internet, I don't know where to start and what to do.

Also, since I'm currently deeply in debt, and could barely keep some money just to eat and survive, I can't afford to pay any fee for IM course or ebooks. So I've been trying to find some free resources about IM, which only make me confused. Seems I need mentor to understand everything about IM.

But the only thing I know is that IM will require me to have website. This also a problem for me because I cannot afford to pay hosting and domain at this moment.

So, my first question is:
Is the paid hosting mandatory? or can I use free hosting or blog like blogspot and wordpress? at least for the beginning. After get some money, of course I will take paid hosting and domain.

I realize that IM is not get quick rich scheme, so I'm willing to learn and take action. But I also need advise, where to start and what to do?

Thanks in advance

    Hi Richest,

I understand your feelings because I have students who are just like you. The internet marketing business may not be very easy when you start because of all the technicalities you have to know.

Allow me to help you right here.

Firstly, learn all about market research. Market research basically means researching a potential market so that you can nose-dive into and make money. This area is very huge and important, so it's best that you find a reliable program/mentor to understand more about how to exactly pick a niche. There are a lot of contradictory advices out there, especially with clickbank product picking etc. Bring the Fresh has a step-by-step guide for you if you want to know more (link in my signature below)
    • Search volume: Number of people who type in your targetted "market" phrase in Google
    • SEOC: Number of competitors competing for the same phrase as you.
    • Cost per click: Normally pertains to Adwords, but you can try 60% of it to get the amount you get paid for each click you get on your site from Google for this market
These are what you need to learn more about, and a good value to stick by when you're starting off would be to choose a search local volume over 1000 (exact match) and a SEOC of below 50,000 at least. These are very easy to rank in Google for.

You need to learn about the difference between exact and phrase match. Exact means the exact keywords input into Google with " ".
Phrase means the keywords found in certain phrases.

For example. If you have "dog training" input in Google, a phrase match would be like "how to have dog training" or "dog training for small dogs" or something like that.

Seriously, try Bring the fresh to get a headstart with programs like Market Samurai that will help you pick your niches more quickly. You might want to try Traffic Travis, which some people have claimed are getting more accurate as well. Market samurai has videos you can learn from. Otherwise, Google keyword tool is a good place to start.

Secondly, learn about how to set up your site. You mentioned blogger.com and i've seen blogger rank for some keywords, but it takes tremendous effort for a newbie to do it. For me, I will get a hosting account at hostgator, then get a domain name at namecheap/godaddy. The site will rank much faster due to the exact domain name match.

Learn more about exact domain name matches and stop words as well, as they can help you rank just a few more positions more than normal, or be the difference of about 100 positions in google, or get you deindexed (seriously.).

Third, learn about conversion and copywriting. Remember that conversion is the main priority over everything else. If you have a high conversion rate with low traffic, it can do far better than a high traffic with very low conversion rate. Learn how to persuade people, how to write reviews, how to leave people hanging for more.

Fourth, learn about onpage and offpage SEO (search engine optimization). This will allow you to rank higher in Google for your desired phrases. offpage SEO mainly talks about backlinking, where marketing techniques such as article marketing, bookmarking, web2 submissions, profile linking, etc etc etc all come into place.

Fifth, when you've succeeded, leverage and expand your business. Get a list for your targetted traffic, push products etc. Know what works and what doesn't.

For me, I learnt it the hard way to get a mentor. But if you want to get a headstart over the rest of the newbies right now, just check out my signature for Bring the Fresh, by two brilliant marketers I really look up to.

But it's up to you, I don't want to sound like i'm pushing a product on you. Best of luck, hope to hear a success story from you.

  • Definitely try this...

Sign up to the war room

The war room is a section of this forum where individuals have placed 100's of ebooks, e-reports, software, articles... etc etc

Think of it as an entire library filled with goodies to help you learn about internet marketing. It is definitely worth while as a lot of the products were being sold to people at one point, so it's high quality information.

I think it costs about $40, but it'll give you all you need to know to get going properly.

As you're going through the war-room, keep an eye on ALL the sections of the forum as well. Not just the main im discussion.

    Why do this?

Well, The Mind Warriors - Success, Power, Self-Improvement section of the forum helps to get you in the correct mindset for success. This is incredibly important as you decide what you do in life and how successful you are depends on your attitude.

The Copywriting Forum is, what I believe, to be most important of all. Whenever you need to write webcontent, you use words. Just think about that...

You use words for writing adverts, for sending out emails, for writing content encouraging visitors to click an affiliate link.... they are immensely important. The Copywriting Forum is a place where you can learn about the joys of writing (or typing) sales copy (content).

Then there is the Make Money Online free ebooks section, grab a free info product courtesy of fellow Warriors.

If you are creating your own website, don't forget to check the Warrior Support Forums aswell. This section will help you with the IT side of things, including website design.

As you can see, there is a reason why this forum is one of the best (if not the best) forum on the internet for internet marketing.

To finish off, just remember these 2 things:

    * Don't spam

    * Make sure you offer valuable content on websites and the products you create/sell.

    Good luck!

Hi! Welcome! Ok you've gotten some good advice so far from folks. Here are a few suggestions to raise some capital for hosting and domains. Go on the Members Wanted section here at the Warrior Forum or look at Craigslist to make some quick cash. You can do Fiverr, but it takes 2 weeks to retrieve your funds. Once you have capital for domains and hosting, I would do some research into selecting a good keyword and product that sells well. Read as much as you can find here and ask as many questions as you can think of. Don't get sucked into the WSO section or War Room yet, there's too much information overload in there for a newbie. Good luck and don't forget to ask as many questions as you can. Warriors are always happy to help!

If you really have no funds to start with, you can certainly use free hosting/blogging services like Wordpress or Blogger. Although what you can do with those means is limited, it will be better than nothing. Also, another thing you can do is to offer services such as design or writing to make some cash first.

      Dear All,

Thanks a lot for your kind replies

Well, if paid hosting is mandatory, then I have no choice but to raise some capitals to buy hosting and domain as Charlotte advised. But where is members wanted section as you mentioned?

Along with that, I feel that I will have to find a good mentor, since I'm afraid learning alone will get me to nowhere. But raising capitals is the first step I think.

FInding a mentor is key and the advice you received from everyone here needs just one more thing for you.

Focus and Education. Yes, the internet is very overwhelming. Let me ask you this. What will you do to raise capital? A good mentor will need to know this so he or she can help you focus. You NEED to find what it is you are good at and offer that as your raising capital venture. For example, what do you do for a job? Can your expertise in your profession help someone solve a problem. If so, you can make money selling a guide you write for people who need to solve this particular problem.

As a reminder, Ficus and Education.

Hi Shawn, thanks for your advise.

That's what I'm thinking about by now. After browse through Members Wanted Section and craiglists, I feel I have no prerequisite nor skill to offer. I can't design website, I have no writing skill, while English is also not my mother language.

Currently I'm working on shift base as operator at an Insurance Company. My job is monitoring some servers operation, make sure all is running well. No high skill is required.

          @Pmbrent:
I'm considering it. Seems like a good start for me, though I still don't know how to start and what to do. Also I'm still thinking whether I can use free blogs to start affiliate marketing?

Here is the Members Wanted section: Wanted - Members Looking To Hire You

On Craiglist look in the Gigs section for things people want done. It's really easy to raise cash that way.

If you need help with anything, let me know, I'm always on Skype

Probably one of the easiest free ways to start making money online is with affiliate marketing. Try researching information online about affiliate marketing and free tools that you can use.
