Automated Social Bookmarking Software is Crap!

I've been testing the various Bookmarking programs this week and I'm really disappointed. I won't mention any names, but as a rule they just don't work for me.

I signed up for like 40 sites and then tried to use the various software and they lock-up, hang-up, fail, and just don't work worth a sh*t.

I even signed up for one that was supposed to be the next best thing to sliced bread...worked for about an hour and then locked up...support for something they expect you to pay $97 a month for ought to be immediate if not at least a few hours later.

Am I the only one having these problems?

The social sites change - that makes keeping up with the changes a bit of a challenge. Any tool that automatically works with these sites will run into problems when the sites change - because of this, they will all snag and will all require updates.

I use socialmarker.com (free) and the old fashioned technique of manually. The manual way takes longer but you know it has been done and entered properly.

I use Bookmarking Demon and it has worked well for me. I mainly use the older 3.x version for bookmarking to Scuttle sites since the drivers mainstream bookmarking sites haven't been updated since they began work on 4.0. The 4.0 beta release still has stability problems from what I've seen.

I am watching this post closely because for months now I have been thinking of getting an auto-bookmarking product and the choices have been limited to
    - bookmarking demon
    - autosocial poster
    - social submitter

I hope someone who uses any of these can share their experience.

Thanks Big Mike.. will check it out.

I am right now considering automation because with the vast number of sites right now, it would probably be cheaper to buy software.... otherwise I have bookmarking manually outsourced at 10 cents per bookmark site/link.

Check out Mikes SocialBot as well.

ASP is a godsend for blogging just keep in on a low post number and you will get great results.

BMD is also very good as is SeNuke

I've used autosocial poster for around a year and it's worked well. One thing it does that I'm not sure if the other ones do is you can tell it to randomly post to "X" out of "Y" number of accounts.

I finally got off my butt and used SocialBot on a test site a month or so ago. I saw significant results in Google in less than two weeks.

It takes awhile to set up, but once you make that initial investment of time, it's literally a push of a button.

        Exactly!

If you're spidering large sites, that takes time too, but you can let that run in the background while you're working on something else.

Bookmarking demon has worked well for me. I haven't used it for a week or so, but last I used it is was fine. Sure, not all the sites will work, but that's just how these programs are. They are constantly being updated to keep up with the bookmarking sites.

Just make sure you don't go crazy with these tools, and they will help.

No I have not tried that, considering that too.. those guys sell some pretty interesting software, but, I honestly have not bought anything from them yet.

I checked out SE Nuke and wow.. an overload of tools, I almost slapped myself silly because the strategies on SENuke are the same ones I use, but I do them manually... SE Nuke does a lot of automating.

But I am still going to purchase a bookmarker for my self hosted wordpress-run niche blogs.

Cheers everyone, thanks for all the input.

Web based tools like OnlyWire.com might be the solution.

Or maybe consider using virtual machine software like VMWare or Parallels to allow running of a dual-os.

Does anyone know if Onlywire is any good? I used it before they started charging. Other than logging in to all the accounts and checking (which sort of defeats the purpose), I could never tell if it was doing anything.

Can anyone using socialbot share how they have set up the accounts? When I started doing it - (It takes a LONG time) half of the first 20 or so seemed to be duplicates and/or had the error about exceeding bandwidth? I hired it out and the outsourcer had the same problem. Any tips?

    Thanks

Registering for the sites is time-consuming. But you only have to register once.

Some of the scuttle sites may appear to be duplicates, but they're not. The sites are using the same script and haven't taken the time to make their sites look unique.

Retry the ones who have exceeded their bandwidth after the first of the month. It happens...

Also, if you installed the program, started using the program right away, and haven't closed the application and used it again, you don't have the updates. The next time you start SocialBot, the updater will launch automatically.

I outsource that sh*t. Pay someone to do it manually. There are some services (webmarketreports.com, submitedge.com, etc.) or you can hire someone on Odesk/Elance for 2-3 bucks an hour.

Sorry to hear about your bad luck ouroboros! I have always used socialmarker.com, which is the manual (and longer) way of doing things, but when I use it at least I know its been done properly the first time around. Worth checking out if you're looking for alternatives. Bookmarking demon has a great reputation though, so it might be a better paid option.

Social bookmarking works well at the moment and will work until the next big Google algorithm change vanishes all the benefits of social bookmarking.

Any technique that can be spammed with a few clicks are destined to be nulled by google engineers, as it ought to be.

Other people are supposed to social bookmark your pages, not you, do you?
