    1. Upload you ebook to a folder on your hosting account with ftp software like filezilla.
    2. Add the url where your file located to your thank you page.

    Hope this helps.

You can do as "fullmatrix" mentioned or use Payloadz.com or any such site to sell your files securely online.

      All the best.

It's pretty simple actually. Here are the steps:

    1. If you are just using wordpress and not a software to protect your download pages, then you will need to create a password protected page.

so create a new page and then on the right hand side, you will see a "visibility" option. Click on that and a drop down menu will appear to password protect the page. Select that option and create a password. (you can give this to all your buyers)

    2. Go to your ftp account and create a folder on your domain. Name the folder something that no one would guess. Example xx11vcx

Once you create the folder, upload the ebook to that folder.

So if your website is something like www.iamgreat.comthen your ebook address link would be www.iamgreat.com/xx11vcx/nameofebook.pdf

You can then give your buyers that link to access your ebook after their purchase.

Ofcourse the above method is old school style

    Hope that helps

    If you want the simplest answer without going into protection and all that or messing around with FTP...( BUT I STRONGLY SUGGEST OTHERWISE ) then do the following;

Go into the wordpress page you want the file on. When you view it in the normal editor mode, there are 4 little icons at the top next to the words "upload/Insert" you have icons for, "add image", " add video", "add audio", "add media".

What you want to do is highlight whatever text you want the person to click on when they want to download the ebook, example "click here to download" then after highlighting click the "add media" icon.

the window will pop up to upload the file. upload your ebook then where it shows the url of the file, just under it select "file url" then click "insert into post".

Thats it, when someone clicks on the text it will open the ebook and they can save, or you put the ebook in a zip folder and they can download and save.

This is not the most secure way though and there are limits to the size so if it's a really big file then you will have to go the FTP way. When I had zero technical knowledge and the thought of the word "FTP" sent me into a spiraling tantrum, this did the job at the time.

Here's an idea that builds on "dark witness's" suggestion...

Why not password protect the page you're offering the ebook on with the simple password protection offered by WordPress.

Everyone gets the same password so it's really simple for you. It's not perfect as others can share the password but it stops the search engines from indexing your download page. It's also a free.

You would need to deliver the password by email autoresponder to make sure only your customers get it.

The very best solution for offering protected content from your WordPress site to customers is by using a plugin called: "WishListMember". It's not free and it's probably not the cheapest solution, but it is the best in my opinion.

Here's the thing, your ebook may be secure in the current version of WordPress, next upgrade?? You could find yourself redoing your page with every upgrade.

If you want your down-load link to be secure and to only need to do the work one time what I would do (and have done) is create a simple, no frills Thank You Page using Kompzer, a free HTML Editor.

Then up-load your Page with an FTP program like Filezilla to a folder with a nonsense name like 'kirbnxhwyur' some random string of letters or numbers, it's highly unlikely that anyone could guess your folder's address.

You may be thinking HTML and FTP are too complicated to use, it's not really that hard and I'm not a techy, not by a long shot.

To prove my point a while back I posted to my blog two videos on how to build a Lead Capture Page in five minites and how to FTP in three minutes.

If you just want the little dialogue box to come up ask them to download then just zip your PDF file and upload it to your server - the put a link like this on your webpage:

    <a href="hxxp://xxx.yoursite.com/pdf-file.zip">Download Here</a.>

Why would one do this and not use e-junkie or something? I'm sure you have a reason OP, I'm just wondering if the process would be easier on your end to use file delivery?

I'm going to be where you are in a few weeks and I'm just curious.

I use paypal, when you are setting up your payment button it has an option to send users to a address after purchase. This is where you would put the web address where users can download your products. But just a warning, have your download page cloaked or use random variables so it won't be easy to access your download page.

If you just want to add your PDF file to your thank you page so people can download. Maybe you just need to upload it on by clicking the upload Media button on the page where you write your post. Thought this might be what you are looking for, so I put it up there anyway, hope this help.

You may be better off adding it to ejunkie so its a secure download

Otherwise people can download it for free if you just put a link on your thank you page

If you want to add it to your thank you page, upload it into your media library in your wordpress dashboard

There are a lot of great suggestions here and I'd like to offer what I do.

Understanding how PayPal works, I've put a system in place that protects me from people downloading my stuff and then claiming they never received it.

My thank you page is built as an additional contact form under my regular contact page on my blog. The buyer is directed there where they submit their name and email address used to make the purchase and they must also verify their shipping address.

When they submit their information they are then registered in the member area and have access to the download. If you do not have a membership program, you could have that email from your contact page issue an auto respond email directing them to a download page.

Now to protect the download, you could password protect the file or directory where the download page is and your email to them would contain the user/password to the directory.

    Now the secret part...

All of these pages are tracked and capture their ip, city, state and a whole bunch of other details. If they try to say they did not receive the ebook, I simply take screen shots of their entire path to download the ebook.
