New Feature On Google Home Page

So last night, my husband told me to look at his Google Home page. He pointed me to a little mic icon right in the search field.

He clicked on it, and it was speech recognition software!

How COOL!

So off I go to MY Google home page, but I don't have the icon.

I asked what browser he was using. Chrome. I checked Chrome. Nope. I don't have it.

Maybe they're rolling out slowly or something, I don't know. But it's pretty cool to have that, especially right from the browser. I'll be looking more into it.

I don't have it as well

Google seems to despise us folks : we're the Google outcasts.

haha.. ya'll make me laugh. Now I'm wondering if my husband is some CIA-like Google Spy who gets all the gadgets before we do, seeing as how NO ONE ELSE has it.

What it looked like, now that I think about it, is you can 'speak' whatever it is you want to search. Which doesn't look like it will do much to help us write, but who knows, that might not be far off. (Hubby just confirmed, he still has it and that is in fact what it does)

I've called my Google voice phone number to dictate an article to it, but their speech recognition software really sucked.

Maybe it was some kind of beta test, but why is he the only one who has it?!

        NOT FAIR...

Oh, PS he says it only works in Chrome.

That will really come in handy. I thought they abandoned the idea a year or so ago?

Haha CIA Google Super Spy Mr.Schaeffer. Brilliant.

You would think they'd let us try it out. I mean I'm the perfect person to break it with my Anglo-American accent

So it's basically going to be the same sort of thing as the IPhone app? I can just say what I'm looking for and it searches for me.

Only makes sense they'd bring it to online if a lot of apps are downloaded.

I see the mic icon when I go to Google Translate. When you use Chrome, you can click on the mike, say something, and translate will transcribe what you say and then translate it into the language you choose. It's pretty accurate.
