Has anyone used PHP List?

I came across this while looking for something completely unrelated and I was wondering if any Warriors have tried it.

phplist.com : phpList : The world's most popular open source email campaign manager

Yes. I've used it for a client's website. Once you get it configured right, it seems to work just fine.

Dan's content is irregularly read by handfuls of people. Join the elite few by reading his blog: dcrBlogs.com, following him on Twitter: dcrTweets.com or reading his fiction: dcrWrites.com but NOT by Clicking Here!

Dan also writes content for hire, but you can't afford him anyway.

Interesting.. do you feel that it's worth the time to set up and configure and use as an alternative to Aweber?

It wasn't hard or terribly time-consuming to set up, as I recall. Just had to make sure you had the right checkboxes checked or something like that.

If you're prepared to manage any mail issues that come up, it's a good alternative to Aweber. The advantage is you don't have to pay $19 a month to use it. The disadvantage is that you'll be on your own for keeping mailings CAN-SPAM compliant and checking to make sure you don't get added to blacklists and whatnot.

True. I've recently read up on CAN-SPAM and the like. I might have to give this a try.

Not hard to write your own script either, no more than 50 lines of code.

PHPlist is open source and free. It is easy to install and use if you have some previous experience with installation of some kind of CMS on Linux hosting. SPAM is a major issue worth considering and may require a lot of time handling such issues.
