How do you guys make money?

I make money online in four ways.

Affiliate marketing (amazon, CJ and ShareAsale merchants). I only promote physical products in this manner. I have three sites dedicated to this and one craptacular site with a squeeze page that builds a list--which in turn promotes products through aff links.

Product sales, both online and offline to local businesses looking for web design.

Advertising (Adsense and CPA offers). I only have two sites these days that generate income this way.

And my newest egg basket--site flipping! About to list my second site and I'm really excited to start scaling this up.

If you;re really into getting on IM, consider doing cpa using videos.
sign up on ewanetwork.com, do some keyword research, make some videos, distribute them using pixelpipe.com (free) or trafficgeyser.com (paid)

so in the last couple of years I have also done

- building repairs
- bathroom installations

And life is OK, but I'm still serving my IM apprenticeship!

I was an ERP and software development project manager before that, but got tired of all the bull***t I heard. So I do IM now (and building work). It's a lot more fun, but still a lot of BS.

  I have an Kindle Book on Amazon in the above niche. Does OK.
  I just put the above eBook on Smashwords (still converting).
  I have a butt load of adsense parked domains. Doesn't do much.
  I have a two websites that I abandoned to pursue other things, which I plan on selling shortly. Both market ClickBank products.
  
  None of that is on the forefront of my focus at the time. I am currently in the process of creating my first product which I devote the bulk of my time to.
  
  And I make a few bucks on Fiverr here and there - nothing I put any effort into anymore.
  
  Oh, and I am a full time student - Post 9/11 GI Bill is amazing.

I have a portfolio of niche sites that all promote amazon products. I get my traffic all from organic SEO. I have 35 sites, just about 1/2 of which are now on page one of Google. I have a team of VAs that work for me to build new sites for a fixed fee of $27 per site INCLUDING the articles.

I blog about how I do all of this so just click my sig links to get to my blog. I also give free training webinars that you can sign up for at my blog.

I am a ghostwriter first and foremost (write articles, web pages, blog posts, etc. for others). After that, I also make money through:

Affiliate marketing (Clickbank and Market Health products)
Blogging
Creating my own information products

- I sell 1 ebook (does okay)
- I do affiliate marketing - physical products, digital products, services, and software (affiliate marketing is my biggest earner by far)
- I have one decent list in a focused market that earns okay - but will get better as it grows.
I focus on a few niche sites that are large (300 plus posts) that earn the bulk of my income through affiliate marketing.

Once I build up my traffic, I'll redirect my focus to listbuilding for long-term business strategy.

Almost exclusively Amazon. I figure that Amazon is very good at selling to a customer when they are on the site, so if i can just get people who have a need to visit Amazon via my sites then the rest will take care of itself...

I also have a blog where I make a small amount from adsense and amazon and am running a site to help work at home mothers.

On top of that I am writing an e-book in my spare time I will be selling.

Anyways you got a good idea but i think you would need to modify your implementation...

In any marketing the one rule that you should never break is "always test test test"

SO instead of creating 100 sites for just amazon... create a smaller test sample and then test away....

You will probably try 10-15 different things before one hits the chord and at that point..... take all the energy you got and DIG AWAY and spend 80% of you time on that and and the remaining 10% trying to improve your control and the last 10% diversify and test other methods...

@OP: If you want to make money through adsense, then it would be better if you perfected your traffic generation techniques with a couple of sites first, instead of shooting for a hundred sites at the same time. You might think that the accumulated income for all the sites would be impressive, but if you perfect your traffic generation techniques first and then apply them on all the sites, the result would be even more impressive!

Pretty much everybody make money from affiliate marketing (either it's CPA, ClickBank, Amazon, eBay etc) and/or adsense, some are writers so that's their main income source, others are driving targeted traffic to buy their services (like WSO) and so on. There are a lot of ways to make money.
The last thing I would do would be to make 100 websites for adsense. Somebody just said before, you have to test all the time. With 20 websites you can do more than $3000/month if find the best solutions to monetize your sites. I don't think you can make that money only with adsense from 20 sites, but, depending on the niche, of course, you can for sure with affiliate marketing/adsense. Just mix these make money ways until you're satisfied.

To answer your question, I only use affiliate marketing because adsense does not fit at all.

Short term = Keyword research, site creation, SEO for clients

Long term = Write ebook, create mini-site to direct sell ebook, publish to Kindle and Smashwords

Short term approach is handy for paying the bills. Long term approach is great for setting up passive income streams.

Really there is no right or wrong answer here. Find something you enjoy and are good at, then focus on monetizing that

If you love what you are doing then it does not seem like as much hard work.

I sell websites that are completely editable literally by "drag and drop"
I include aweber like functionality, plus the ability to have customers manage their own features such as the "nav bar" to create squeeze pages within websites. The website, plus hosting, design, and the content management system run my customers a flat rate monthly fee. I also keyword each page individually which increases traffic. My affiliates make money every month by reselling my service.

That's what I do. I have over 100 clients at the moment, 20 of which are warriors, and business is getting better.

Personally I find spreading out works best for me. Here's some of what I'm doing at the moment...

SEO. AdSense. eBooks. Product launches. Audio's. Membership sites. Video's. ClickBank. Affiliate programs. CPA's.

However out of all these, info products I create are the most lucrative.

I have 5 income streams (and a daughter, I'm a complete workaholic!):

1. Consultancy work - I help companies with their marketing and/or social media, I either advise them on what to do or actually carry out the work for them.
2. Mentoring - I help companies who are either starting out and not sure where to start, people who are in business but want to make more sales/generate more leads and more recently helping create exit strategies
3. Workshops - I run social media workshops in the UK
4. Speaking - I've been speaking for a while now (for free) and it's only recently that people are now paying me to speak

5. Affiliate marketing - I promote one or two products each month

I think your technique is pretty solid, most Internet marketers start off with the big guys in Adsense and Amazon, then move on to CPA, and then their own products
