I fail to understand how to market my website. I mean, its running and without any publicity I am getting around 350 visitors/month but that's not what I am looking for.

My website is regarding technology so how do I my website. My website perhaps is lacking for the keywords I think of. I mean, on Google some other websites occur on those keywords so definitely I am in a competition.

I am willing to spend some money but before that I am looking for knowledge on how to market my website properly so that I can win the war.

Looking forward for positive replies from you guys.

    Hi Mate,

    Great question.

The whole internet boils down to 3 things.

    1. Keywords
    2. Links
    3. Links with keywords in them

So the first thing you need to do some keyword
research to find great keywords that are targeted
    towards your project.

Start off with low competition keywords, so that you
can see some progress right away, then work up to
    the harder keywords.

Invest in some keyword software for this.
Keyword Analysis Tool - Market Samurai (not affiliated)

Then start generating and posting content that
    are based on your keywords.

Also work on getting links back to your site from
other sites. Its always best practice to get links
from other sites. Such as blog commenting.

If thats not possible you can get backlinks from
    forum profiles etc.

That is the basics of it.

    1. Find your keywords
    2. Create keyword based content
    3. Distribute that content arount the internet
    4. Get yourself backlinks (with keywords in the anchor text)

And be in this for the long haul...remember you are building
a sustainable business and not a quickfix.

    Hope that helps?

    Take Care,

    Michael Silvester

Indeed, what Michael has written is entirely correct.
Getting ranked highly in Google is not an overnight thing unless you are willing to pay for PPC Adwords.

The key is to find keywords that are relevent to what your website is about. Keyword research is vital here because if you go after very popular keywords that get lots of hits you are likely to be faced with a ton of competition meaning you may never see the first couple of pages of google rankings.

Market Samurai is a great piece of software as is Traffic Travis.... V4.0 got released today, although I have not used it yet I have used previous releases and its an awesome piece of kit that allow you to understand SEO and how rankings work in much greater detail.

If you are willing to pay for your traffic then another great way to generate some visitors is via PPV (pay per view) or Media Buys. This is much cheaper than Pay Per Click with google and if you place your websites banners in the right places (on other peoples websites that have the same subject in common) you can see some great results.

With SEO get stuck in with plenty of research, check out some ebooks as well as youtube...
I have been doing SEO for a few years now and I feel everyday I learn something new. My advice is keep at it and before you know it you will learn how to influence the way in which your website ranks for certain keywords.

Use Google Analytics, and Google Webmaster Tools. If you verify your site with google webmaster tools, then you can add Google Analytics.

Look at what keywords are being used when people actually visit your website.

        Leverage and improve that.

Look at what sites are linking to yours, via Google Webmaster Tools and other means... such as backlinkwatch.com and majesticseo.com site explorer...

You have only eight inbound links, according to backlinkwatch.com

You need more links to get more traffic.

You can still get free traffic from article directories and doc sharing sites. I would recommend using those and pay for the content if you want.

Also, facebook advertising tends to be cheaper than Adwords if you really target a small section of people.

It appears to me when you say market you mean get more buyers on your site.
Well, for the serps part Michael is spot on.

But lets not forget about You Tube.
It is now one of the top 3 search engines.

Create really decent (not pro) videos and do Video SEO for them, rank them, do a comp video and steal their traffic ect..
You tube is an ATM if you know how to use it.

The visitors to your site will stay a whole lot longer too than normal search traffic. I have seen this and other Warriors have too.

Youtube sends me traffic for just uploading picture slides. No seo or any promotions. Not saying that these things wouldnt trigger more traffic.

If you can come up with a lot of content you make multiple videos within the same niche and get even more views and clicks

I would also add valuable, original content to this list Google is big on content that offers your visitor real value, not the same stuff offered by other sites in your niche. Great content goes a long way toward getting your website out there!

    great reply micheal.

The first thing to do is if you have a blog test this, what he was saying. You will find you will have success with something and fail at other things. It is not easy, but at the same time not difficult. Just record things that are working well and keep doing these things.

    Hi Smokee

you have my hosting , now you need a plan.

One of the best and cheapest plan that I have come across lately is by fellow warrior
    CraigRC

This plan will cost you 9$

There are a few more possible expenses and a fair amount of work associated with it. I can help you with some of it.

Relax...you are in the right place. let me know if I can be of further assistance

    Cheers.

      My two cents worth,

      1. Pick a keyword in your niche with low competition (search " Google " for keyword research).

      2. Write some relevant content about your niche topic.
( WordPress SEO - Free plugin ) is nice to have for your site SEO.

      3. You will need to develop a backlink strategy to get your website ranked.
      ( " BuildMyRank.com " is a paid service I use that is really effective ).

      Closing:
Once you rank for the low competion keyword you can move onto a higher competition keyword. The higher the competition the more difficult it gets to build rank.

      Regards
      Stanley

Also remember that just because you're ranking on the first page of Google and you have 3,000 visitors coming to your site, DOES NOT MEAN YOUR MAKING MONEY!

Newbies need to understand that just being on the first page of Google has ABSOLUTELY no effect on how much money your going to make. It gives you the potential to make money, but nothing guaranteed just because you're on the first page. Remember, Visitors != Money

Money is a Result, Not a Goal

Precisely. I met someone who had website with tens of thousands unique visits monthly, but he didn't make much money because his website was some sort of prank site, so people were not looking to buy or click anything.

Besides free and paid traffic from google, you can also try found traffic i.e. if you know of a forum that people in your niche gather, then you can join the forum, participate, and let people know about your site, either in your forum signature or in a comment post.
