Google will get the information one way or another, so use the tools they are giving you to help with your business, Analytics will give you TONS of information to help you track your traffic and conversions so watch the videos, load it up on your site, and enjoy the benefits.

    Regards,

        Definitely go for it!

It's worth doing. Google probably collect all this data anyway, regardless of whether you are using analytics or not. At least this way, you get to see it too.

Google analytics is one of the most essential tools for any website, unless you're using third-party analytics software. Even at that point, it's still worth it to use Google as well. It's much more powerful and versatile than many people give it credit for. It can even track conversions of non-Google ad campaigns (with some tweaking.)

Thanks for all your replies, I guess I am too wary of Google, as it seems like its taking over the internet. Will definitely give it a go !

The information is anonymous. They will use aggregate data for various things, but I don't think you have to worry about them looking at your eCommerce data or anything like that. If privacy is a major concern, you might consider going with an installed solution. Google has urchin which is pretty much the same product.
