When Apple releases a product, you can be sure everybody will talk about it for the entire month before it is release. They usually have a "breach" that reveals secret information.

The viral marketing purpose is to make everybody talk about their "buzz" with everybody.

    From Wikipedia

    Viral marketing

    From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Viral marketing and viral advertising are buzzwords referring to marketing techniques that use pre-existing social networks to produce increases in brand awareness or to achieve other marketing objectives (such as product sales) through self-replicating viral processes, analogous to the spread of viruses or computer viruses. It can be delivered by word of mouth or enhanced by the network effects of the Internet.[1] Viral marketing may take the form of video clips, interactive Flash games, advergames, ebooks, brandable software, images, or text messages.
The goal of marketers interested in creating successful viral marketing programs is to create viral messages that appeal to individuals with high social networking potential (SNP) and that have a high probability of being presented and spread by these individuals and their competitors in their communications with others in a short period of time.
The term "viral marketing" has also been used pejoratively to refer to stealth marketing campaigns--the unscrupulous use of astroturfing online combined with undermarket advertising in shopping centers to create the impression of spontaneous word of mouth enthusiasm.[2]

    Cost per action

    From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

    Cost Per Action
or CPA (sometimes known as Pay Per Action or PPA) is an online advertising pricing model, where the advertiser pays for each specified action (a purchase, a form submission, and so on) linked to the advertisement.
Direct response advertisers consider CPA the optimal way to buy online advertising, as an advertiser only pays for the ad when the desired action has occurred. An action can be a product being purchased, a form being filled, etc. The desired action to be performed is determined by the advertiser.
The CPA can be determined by different factors, depending where the online advertising inventory is being purchased.

Viral marketing is marketing any product or service (affiliate offers or CPA offers included) in a way that the message spreads accross the internet and becomes self driven.

For example a video posted on youtube that is so interesting that everyone that watches it sends it to all their friends and then to their friends etc. Or a message on facebook that gets reposted over and over by everyone that likes it. Or a refer 5 friends to get a better deal or Retweet this. Do you get the picture.

It is not some unique type of product it is just techniques used to spread a message or marketing message fast and without any additional work on your part.

Affiliate marketing is selling other peoples products and CPA offers are included in that.

Viral marketing is not so simple to be created. In fact nobody knows for sure whether content will become a viral ..

But who can - get a huge return in terms of marketing.
