Im ready to start but confused, please help!

Hi I'm a internet marketer newbie, and I have been studying internet marketing for the past 2 years, started following this site for 2 months now and I found that this site has been more helpful in trying to cut out the confusion that I've read elsewhere, and even training which has been useless, I'm slowly starting to understand and I feel I'm nearly ready to begin, however I've got so much information in my head and I'm feeling somewhat lost. It's like I'm ready but something is stopping me, and I can't move forward. Please can you help clear my confusion?
My aim is to promote other peoples products (Affiliate Marketing) and earn commissions from doing so. And I have been looking at Click Bank as a starting point. Here is what I want to do:
  • I want to create a website that is rich in content.
  • I have chosen my niche, and I have chosen to operate in the health and fitness market as it is this that I love, and is a real part of my life.
  • I have looked through click bank and I have found some products that I like, these are products I would actually buy myself if I had the money.
  • So let's say that this has all been decided.

These are decisions that I have made based on my interest in the health and fitness area, I haven't done any research as of yet, which is what is confusing me. I want to begin setting up my site, I've got great ideas for a domain name, and the sort of stuff I want to put up there, but I understand it is not as straight forward as that, and that key word research is involved which I still don't understand. What do I need to do now? Any advice would be greatly appreciated, I've not been sleeping very well because I really want to try and figure it out but I just can't and need someone to help clear things. Thanks so much.

I always see a website as a continuous work in progress. You sound a little like a perfectionist and that is good, but start the process sooner rather than later and then plan on spending time on a consistent basis.

  • Building a site is the easy part and the LAST thing you do.

Go here: Website Marketing Tool Videos - KeywordCountry

That is not an affiliate link. Watch the videos it will help you get a better understanding of keyword research.

But once you've done that you'll still need to learn how to evaluate your competition to see if your ideas are viable.

Remember that there are 100,000's of webmasters using Clickbank... so you have to figure out how your site and marketing efforts will bring more value to the consumer than theirs, and you have to figure out how to get your message in front of the consumer. That's the real trick.

Well... one tip: don't choose products just because you like them. Concentrate on what other people like.

CBENGINE - Top ClickBank Marketplace Website! - use this website to analyze Clickbank offers. Find products that meet these criterias:

    1) Gravity 70-250
    2) Commission 50-75%
    3) It should also make some money

    Keyword research

You could either stick with Google Keyword Tool or find a good software (Market Samurai works). Make sure that your keyword:

    1) Gets at least 2500 searches per month
    2) Make sure that your first page competitors are no brands. Also, if you see on the first page Wikipedia, Ehow or similar sites - choose a different keyword. Ideally, your first page competitors should be wordpress blogs that sell products (just like you), or articles.

Also, i would like to say that never give up. If you fail at something, don't worry - that is a process of "growing up".

You sound like you have learnt the basics so far, which is a good start.

Keyword research is a fairly big subject and it is something you want to understand before beginning the construction of your nich website.

When I first started IM it took me at least a year to fully understand enough to actually properly venture out and start making money. Each day I would read different bits and pieces on this forum, website articles, attend webinars etc. The knowledge gaps got smaller and smaller over time.

There will be many ups and downs during your Internet marketing journey my friend. But if you keep at it and never give up, you will succeed.
