the BEST tool for any writer

I just want to say that I LOVE Dragon Naturally Speaking.

I made the mistake of not using it for a few months, and I just started again last night.

Using it, I literally am writing about twice as fast as I was typing.... and my hands are thankful

So yeah- if you're doing a lot of writing, DEFINITELY spring for it. I got mine on Amazon, but I'm sure other places have good prices too.

I too used DNS a few months back and didn't really stick to it. Maybe I should give it another go. Thanks!

      Hey Julie,

It basically lets you speak into a microphone, and what you speak is turned into text in Word, Notepad, your email client, etc.

Generally people speak anywhere from 2-4 times faster than they type, so you can write articles, ebooks, blog posts, etc. MUCH faster using this type of software.

To get the hang of it, most computers with Windows these days come with a form of this software. It isn't always as accurate as DNS, but a lot of people use it because its free.

Just go to Start -> All Programs -> Accessories -> Ease of Access -> Windows Speech Recognition.

      Good luck!

DNS doesn't understand Texican, therefore it makes a wonderful article spinner. By the the time I go back and correct all the mistakes, I have a completely different article about an entirely new subject.

How many articles do you think you've been able to clear, per day, by using DNS, AYM?

That just depends on how fast, and more importantly, how well you can speak/recite.

I would love to try DNS, but I haven't because I think I don't use the right words when I speak, as compared to when I write. It's just my perception though, and I haven't really tried DNS or a similar software yet.

Maybe I'll give it a go soon...

Using software like Dragon Naturally Speaking can certainly speed up the time it takes to write articles if you make sure you think ahead about what you are going to say.

For a lot of people, their articles will flow better and be more conversational as the process of typing is quite different to speaking.

I've used Dragon Naturally Speaking just recently and was pretty impressed with the level of accuracy straight out of the box without any training.

How fast is it? I am really fast now. Is it generally for slow keyboarders or would super fast keyboarders benefit also? Just wondered if it would speed up the process or slow me down.

I know this is blasphemy to the legions of DNS lovers, but I just don't like it. Maybe it's because I can type really fast, but there's something about speaking instead of typing that messes me up and always ends up creating a lousy piece of content. It's strange because while I type I'm actually saying the words in my head. So you'd think DNS would be a natural fit. But I hate it!

I'm a freak! Pity me. LOL

I wish I could use it and have the kind of success almost everyone else reports.

The BEST tool is the one that works best for YOU.

But what works well for one person won't necessarily work well for another.

Some people may write best by using dictation.

Others may write best typing away at the keyboard.

And, others may write best with a pad of paper and a pencil sitting in their back porch on a nice sunny day without any of the hum or chirps of electronic devices.

It's all about finding what makes YOU most productive.

DNS works great in the medical field. MDs use it for their notes which makes life great for those medical transcriptionist. But for writing articles, it actually holds me back. I don'tthink I like the sound of my own voice or something? I too speak Texas speech and it is probably the reason, I can't teach it to recognize my words. But I am so impressed with the technology. glad someone finds it very useful.
