Looks good. Is Adsense the only monetization method planned?

Also be careful when using brand or trademarked words in your domains. I've know of many including myself contact by the legal dept of trademark holders demanding that we immediately give up the domains to them. The UDRP policies are set up in favor of trademark holders even if the word(s) are somewhat vague. Your's is an obvious violation if they wanted to come after you.

Here's a suggestion for listbuilding. Offer a sneak peak video for their name and email by means of an Aweber pop over.

Clean and effective. It is a great mix of media with a reasonably subtle use of ads.

The sight is complelling enough to get me to scroll down to the bottom of the page. Given that, are you missing the opportunity for mixing in another block of ads (or a banner) further down the page?

I liked it so well I clicked on an ad. Kuddos!

Don't want to load it with ads, just yet. and i think two adsense is enough.

A good example of what i'm going for is kryptonsite.com which followed Smallville for 10 years. They have an alexa of 29,000. If this show is half as good as Lost, it'll do better than smallville.

If the show does good, I hope get the most revenue from my CPM network. On my other sites that i use them on, they pay $2 for every thousand of my US impressions. I'll back that up with limited Adsense and affiliate offers for watching online and buying DVDs.

There's places in the US and Canada named terra nova and so many schools, churches, hotels etc, have the name. There's a video game named Terra Nova, several manufacturers, restaurants. Even tried to buy the .com from the owner whose last name was Terranova.

Do i really need to worry?

Unfortunately you still need to worry because of the content. It's like that guy that had the Google type domain for a children's book he wrote (I forgot the whole story).

You could do very well if that show gets big... and obviously nothing if it doesn't. It might be a good idea to spend an hour a day on a blog in an evergreen niche.

great domain name. i hadn't heard about this show but i can see it being a big hit. as for the site, I'd love to see a background. i think it just seems plain with the plain background. everything else looks good. congrats on the site.

I like it, you've done a good job. The only thing I would be concerned about, as mentioned above, is using a Trademarked name in your domain. You could put all this hard work into a site and lose it if they demand the domain be handed over. Worse still they could file a dispute against you and it could cost you big money!

I know you've said there are other businesses with this name but I would just look into it to make sure it isn't trademarked. A school or church using the same name and a website about the actual TV show are completely different. When a company sues for use of it's trademarked name it is usually if your website is competing with them or showing their brand in any way that can damage them or compete with them. In this case you are using the name directly related to the TV show so it could be a problem.

Just look into it, that's all I'm saying!

Update on this:

Fox had their upfronts this week and Traffic has exploded for the last couple of days, getting about 500 uniques per day. That's not translating to Forum Members though. :/

Any tips for getting people to signup and add to a community?

I also got an offer from someone who owns a few tv show sites.
They offered $1500 and it would have been a $1000 profit but i didn't accept. its nice to know 2 months of work is worth something.

Hopefully this will be making that much per month by year end.

@palmer9999, it's a new TV show.

Very nice looking site. I'm wondering if Fox might come after you. As already mentioned, if they've tradmarked the name they could put you down pretty quick. I also wonder about using their photo in the header. That's gotta be copyrighted material too. Good luck.

This one lady was making tons of money with her website called "Farmville Sneaky Secrets"

And guess what ? Farmville came knocking and she gave it up.

yea i really don't think i got anything to worry about with the name since there's so many games, companies, towns, schools with the same name..

...but i've taken the advice of folks in the thread and i contacted somebody in the know about these things and they'll give me answer soon.

I also searched and couldn't find any precedence for any other four networks coming down on any of the hundreds of tv show fan sites with the show name in domain name. I suppose that will only happen if a site is offering downloads of the show which is illegal.
