if your system works, why do you need to sell it?

27 replies
While cruising the internet, I see countless sites trying to sell me marketing plans, get rich quick schemes, ebooks, etc. While I understand that some of the information is actually valuable, most of it is not.
My question is simple; If your system works, why do you need to sell it?
I am not speaking to anyone in particular in these forums, but I am sure there are people here who have sold there plans to inexperienced people.
Many people are making thousands each month from their personal systems, and they probably are. They are making thousands each month from selling their "systems', and not from their actual system. These people are frauds and should be stopped.

Sorry if this is the wrong section.

    Indeed. Most of the ebooks and make money schemes are complete BS or just rehashed information.

    OK. here are some suggestions for you:

    1. Spend months or years building your own system from
    scratch and run it all by yourself and don't ever tell
    or sell anybody the ideas and expertise you learned
    from building it.

    2. Use somebody else's "free" system aimed at broke people
    who want money for nothing. (translation: waste your
    time)

    3. Try to do it without a system. (translation: lose your hair)

    4. Get a license to a system that works.... oh wait!
    you are opposed to the selling of intellectual
    property like marketing systems and enterprise business
    systems so you wouldn't have any interest at all in any
    kind of license for such as thing.

    • Well said Loren,

      While I do agree that a lot of stuff out there is over priced rehashed info, there are a few innovators in the online marketing world.

      Such as the likes of Mr. Mike Dillard Himself. He completely revolutionized the way this entire network marketing world looks at things.

      With attraction marketing my team and I *Never* make a single cold call but rather have people calling us asking us if they can join us in our business.

      Truth is people are attracted to leaders and to people they see can offer them true value and a solution to a problem they're facing.

      Unfortunately in the beginning for most folks they just don't know what is truly valuable or not and they get taken time and time again.

      You see there are absolutely different ways you can look at building an online business...

      1. You can do the old archaic methods that suck and nobody likes or likes to do...Like chasing down all your friends and family, cold calling, buying leads etc.

      2. trying to put together lots of different technologies that you know you need in order to create the most success online. But the fact of the matter is that for even the semi-savy online marketer this is not an easy process.

      You first have to sift through the millions of different rehashed promises out there...try to intergrate them somehow and hope it all works. IE learn how to write compelling web copy or pay someone to do it, learn how or pay someone to create a highly effective capture page, test and tweak it, get an auto responder, learn how to deal with complex html code to get it all weaved into your website, pay programers thousands of dollars, the list goes on and on and on...

      3. You could get all of these things in one place with the ability to earn residual income from 13 different income streams off of things people in this industry desperately need weather they realize it or not...

      Case in point:

      I'm sure it comes as no surprise to anyone reading this that the internet is the modern day gold rush. I mean when a couple 22 year old kids can create a website and sell it to a giant company like Google for Billions of dollars just a couple years later, I mean really...

      Ok so Knowing this, when you think back to the gold rush days. Fortunes were made not only by those who were breaking their backs and risking their lives to find all that shiny metal. Fortunes were also made selling the absolutely essential tools to those who were looking for that gold.

      So if you're going to be out looking for all that gold everyday, why not have a store that will sell the best tools to all those other hungry miners you meet and befriend on a daily basis.

      I believe it was Zig Zigler who once said the more people you help get what they want, the more you will get what you want. Makes sense to me...

      Check out my sig file but the 2nd in particular regarding what I have just said.

      Hope this helps someone,

      Jayson

    They sell their systems, the ones that do work, because it will drive more traffic to them. If you're making thousands a month off of people coming to your site.

    Then you get people underneath you on your system, with their lists.

    Thats more lists for you.

    Because the really responsive people underneath you on your system will be more than happy to promote your stuff on their lists, if it works for them, it could work for those underneath them too.

    More money in pocket. Thats what it boils down to.

    Good post .. Great Question ...

    I do use what I sell, I use it and get the exact results I advertise that any customer / member would get.

    I can not speak for what others do or why they do what they do.. I only can speak for myself.

    Have you bought someones system and actually implemented every step and worked hard to see results?

    To answer your question, people sell their systems to make more money. Pretty simple really.

    I can only think of 2 things: To help others succeed and to make more money.
    This of course applies if your are actually selling something you tested and know that it works if they apply it.

    If I had a strategy and make loads of money using it..why wouldn't I sell it to make even more money?

      Because if your system actually works, then the more people who use it, the less effective it will become. If everyone is an internet marketer, who is left to buy the products?

          Exactly, I also sell physical products without ebay, I love working out deals with suppliers, and using my internet marketing skills to set up a mini site and move products out the door,

          I also pay my soon to be sister in law $100 dollars a day to do my shipping and book keeping.

        My friend, you are asking this question from the perspective of a scarcity
        mindset.

        Do you know that Travis Sago actually GAVE away a system of marketing
        called Bum Marketing, which essentially is writing articles.

        Why did he give it away and why does it still work (I make 67% of 6 figures
        because of it) even though some many people use it?

        Well, for one thing, not everybody can write, so it doesn't work for
        everybody.

        For another thing, not everybody puts it to use. 95% of most people who
        buy things don't do a blessed thing with them.

        So, in reality, even with all these "systems" being sold, or even given
        away, there is never so many people using it that it becomes ineffective
        UNLESS it really is a quick fix scheme. And don't get me wrong, there are
        some of those out there.

        But there is tons of information being sold that is incredibly useful and
        selling it does NOT make it less useful.

        I'd give you plenty of examples, but I honestly don't have the time.

        Besides, I have a feeling that your mind is already made up on this.

        This post makes no sense at all ...

        Internet Marketer's do not do "everything" all alone you know ...

        * They need websites
        * graphics
        * scripts like (e-junkie, dlgaurd, and many others)
        * articles, sales copy, content
        * ebook covers
        * tools, research tools
        * mail-list tools and/or scripts

        The list is almost endless... These are all products and there is not one marketer that you will find that can do "ALL" that alone.

    I am planning to sell my system soon because I know that it works, I make alot of money niche marketing,

    So here are the 2 main reasons I plan to sell my system

    1. to help others make money online
    2.)to ad yet another income stream

    Although my system isn't much different, because it's the fundamentals of online marketing, and it works,

    I do plan to offer some services others don't.
    {{ DiscussionBoard.errors[344600].message }}
  • Why?

    Because it's easy money. Damn easy money.

    I do what I sell. I walk my own walk, and only talk my own talk.

    But damn, it's easy money.

      I see where you are coming from clashctyrokr.

      I had this problem a while back too.

      Its a classic in the internet marketing world.

      People selling you "How to make money online" products and yet that is exactly how they are making money online. My belief system personally tells me this is wrong and i for one will never do it.

      I was at a newbie I.M. seminar in Australia about 6 months ago and this dude Nikhil, some wizz kid affiliate marketer gets up and hes talking away... At the end someone asks him to recommend the best affiliate niches and his reply "well you know what your into, fishing, pets blah, blah" he then says this, and i quote "I dont do internet marketing products, because its too competitive"...

      Yet right at the end of his spiel he says "so if you sign up now i can show you how to make a bunch of money online"....

      The main thing to realize is this. Unless they have proven systems which you can easily locate or get testomies for then i say chuck it.

      And one other thing to do is, stop focusing on the negative side to internet marketing. There are bad business people all over the world in every industry. Focus on the bad ones and that is all you will see. Focus on the good ones and you just might become one yourself.

    Hi honey!

    ok, going through the posts you have pretty much all the answers for your question... lets put it more or less together, shall we?

    People do the same things for different reasons... depending on their own... "emotional built". shhh that sounds weird:rolleyes:... anyway...

    -Some do it for the quick money.
    -Some do it for the glory.
    -Some do it as part of a long term strategy in this niche.
    -Some do it to leverage the research investment.

    These reasons are not "exclusive" (in geek meaning... lol long story), you can find them altogether jammed in a way that can be glorious or scary... and everything in between.

    And you know what? it doesn't matter.

    I don't like to tell people what to do, but, well... I will... of course then you do whatever you want...

    why people do it shouldn't worry you. Because your business to be successful will have to reflect your own "emotional built", and that is a lonely path.

    Each person that put info out there, be it gold or trash, will provide you with pieces of your own puzzle IF AND ONLY IF, you are able to be true to yourself.

    Some products will be designed better than others and you will get more pieces and a bigger picture, but still the job is ALL YOURS.

    ffffffff.. too deep for me... better go back to twitter, to go on mixing up seasonal with seasoning, and making a fool of myself... lol

    Hi clashctyrokr,

    Re:"My question is simple; If your system works, why do you need to sell it?"
    No person "needs" to sell their money-making system.

    In fact, creating a successful money-making system and selling that system is actually a system in and of itself and a quite successful one at that.

    As others have said people do it for any number of reasons. It's really a matter of simple mathematics. For example:

    1 - Make $15,000 per month or more using your system
    2 - Make $35,000 per month or more using your system and teaching others to use your system

    Which would you choose?

    All The Best,

    Tony
