I'm new, I've started, and have a few questions.

First off, I'd just like to say this is probably one of the most helpful forums I have ever run across. My only regret is not finding it sooner. I've spent the last week going through posts, reading the rules, as well as the WF manifesto. There's almost TOO much information here. Wonderful stuff though, and just what I need right now.
A small snippet about me (feel free to skip to the dash-delimited section for my actual questions):
I've spent the last 15 years working in IT and make a little over 100k/yr. I now dread every day I have to go in and get paid for my time rather than my effort. The last year has been spent reading just about every motivational text available as well as audio books on inspiration and motivation. Acting of course, on nothing......
I did attempt the 30 day challenge, but got hung up on product selection, second guessing myself to death.
Rather than let my dream of financial independence atrophy due to over analysis, I decided to take another stab at it. Here's what I've done so far:
1) Reduced my debt significantly, forcing a similar effect on my target income.
2) Brain-dumped with mind map software to find some decent paths for ideas.
3) I did purchase Market Samurai during the 30DC, but would have no trouble doing the footwork on my own if needed.
4) Registered three domains and set up a hostgator account last week.
I do have a family, but have two hours per weekday, and 5 on weekends I can dedicate to this project and am not afraid to learn technical stuff (I'm a unix guy, so scripting and command line jargon I'm at home with)
Even if the sites I've registered don't make any money, I'd like to at least use them as vehicles to learn and become more comfortable with keywords, SEO, affiliate marketing, and the like, which i have NO experience in.

My questions:
1) Is a business license recommended/required for online sales and affiliate income? If so, would a sole prop satisfy or should an LLC be considered.
2) I plan on using WP at first and try my hand at blogging. The 30DC promoted WordPressDirect, but I'm araid that I might be cheating myself of a good learning oppertunity if I use it AND am not sure how difficult it would make transitioning away from it, should I want more defined control of the site(s) later on. Any opinions on this would be appreciated.
3) I may solicit the help of a coach on this to not only help me technically, but to keep me on track and accountable for daily/weekly goals. Am I being paranoid worrying about intellectual property when sharing my ideas with someone else in this aspect?
It's hard to explain how difficult it is to have the time and ability, but not the direction. I believe a quote in one of the books I've read over the last year sums it up pretty well. "What we fear the most, is the what we most need to do"
