How do I monetize my website and internet business?

Hello all,

I currently have an internet business that is only making hobby money right now. I would really love some advice on how to ramp up the earnings and turn it into a full time income.

Here's some background on my internet business,
My site is Pigeon Racing and Racing Pigeon Secrets | The Pigeon Insider and Pigeon Racing and Racing Pigeon Secrets | The Pigeon Insider

The niche I am in is pigeon racing yes you read that right... pigeon racing. and my site has become somewhat of an authority in the niche. I currently hold first page search engine placement for many of my main keywords including my seed keyword "pigeon racing".

I currently get on average 10 new subscribers per day to my mailing list (I'm sure thats not alot in IM standards but we're talking about pigeon racing here lol). And I have alittle over 4,000 subscribers on my list.

The site gets on average 2,500 views per day.

I created three clickbank products which are currently the only method of monetization on the site, and I am selling on average 1 to 2 ebooks per day. You can see the products below,

Pigeon Racing Nutrition Secrets Exposed

I was thinking of turning the site into a membership site and charging a monthly membership fee to view the content. However I am not sure how the visitors will react to this considering high costs are one of the problems in the pigeon racing hobby and sport.

I was also thinking of doing like magazines do and charging for ad placements, but I have no idea how to go about that.

There really are no affiliate products or offers that I can promote for this niche, thats why I created my own products.

So if anyone has any ideas or tips for me I would really appreciate it.

Thanks so much in advance,
-Chris

Create a product teaching others how you found a hobby, created your own products and made money in the niche.

Wow, that's some nice move you did there! Pigeon racing? I've never seen that before but sounds interesting. Might as well check your site then.

I don't think charging the membership will be accepted positively by the users, so I'd say it's better to turn to some advertisement instead. Even not directly related to pigeon racing, perhaps there are some company product out there that can be related to the theme of the site (such as bird feeds, environmental sites, etc.). Hmm, linking pigeon racing with movements for environmental causes doesn't sound so bad either. Joining in on other events could also increase exposures for your site. You can offer those companies for an advertisement space on your site. Alternatively, if the company sees your site's traffic reaching a substantial number then they might be the one to take the initiative to talk to you about ad deals. Good luck and more powers!

  • That has to be the most unusual niche I have ever heard of.

See if any these guys have affiliate programs.

pigeon racing supplies - Google Search

And with your Clickbank products, I'm assuming you set up an affiliate program for each, as well? If not, you most definitely should.

I found a lot of pigeon racing sites on Google very quickly, and with your stats it's very possible you may be able to sell advertising space on your site and in your newsletter. Set up a template to send to each of these sites telling them about the opportunity, and be sure to mention your stats. I wouldn't give any prices at first, though. I would make them contact you to ask, and with that you could judge how many sites would be interested. The more sites interested, the more you can charge per ad.

At this point, at least, I don't think I would mess with the membership site. Right now you need to bring as many visitors as possible. Now if you could get your entire mailing list to sign up, that might be a different story. But the vast majority of people don't join membership sites in any niche, and IMO you don't want to risk losing their business by just keeping them out in the cold.

Good luck with that. That's a very creative niche.

Since your website is already ranked high, try developing a forum on your site. This way people who are in this niche can talk and discuss their interest. Make it so they have to be a member of your site in order for them to post. Then you can market to your list of members.
