I'm not sure what the new rules are but I don't use them anyway. As far as I'm aware it's just the direct linking to the affiliate site they're not allowing though I couldn't be 100%

That's the trouble when using other people web space to run your business, they can and do change the rules at will.

I'm glad I stopped Hubbing and starting building my own sites - having to go back and change previously approved Hubs is a nuisance.

Thanks, guys. Not only do you have to change previous hubs, but some hubs (on topics that are previously ok) are now restricted. Just another lesson to never put all your eggs on one basket; and more importantly, put content on sites that you have control of.

I dont think that it will be ok doing so, because i tried it a day or two back and they sent it back for revision and if you dont remove the links after the revision is requested then the hub gets deleted.
They dont allow any links on their hub.

I have a few hubs with affiliate links that haven't been touched. Then again, most of them are pretty long (1500-2500 words) and get good organic traffic.

I certainly will give it some thought. I only have one Hub and it was chosen for this week's Hub Nuggets...I noticed as far as ads I used a google and amazon...put I was wondering about links...

I have my own product as well as affiliate...so if I understand it correctly direct affiliate links are not allowed but what about leading people to a squeeze page to my own product?

Yep, me to. I killed every article I had written on HUB Pages and refuse to use them for anything. In any case there are too many other sources to choose from.

I haven't logged into my Hubpages account for ages...lost interest a while back. It used to be really good for affiliate marketers, but seems like they are cracking down on "leaks" outside of their platform.

Preventing links allows them to keep traffic on their own pages (that you make), which they hope will cause people to click on more ad links. I think this change is totally money motivated on Hubpages part, which is fine since it's their platform.

Nothing beats building your own niche authority site IMHO. That way these kind of changes can't put you out of business.

My 500 word Hub made PR 2 with no extra effort at all in about 2 months time.

Still good way to get quality backlinks.
