Do you transcribe on your video blog? + DNS question

Hey Warriors,

I'm in the process of setting up a video blog... where it'll be videos of me talking and doing stuff on the screen, type of thing. I've done just about everything else in Internet Marketing but my first time setting up a personal video blog.

I am thinking of embedding the video from YouTube in a blog post then having a transcript of the video under it, because I know not everyone likes to watch videos, so to cater to those who prefer to read.

I also know it would make great food for spiders. However, I transcribed my first video (30 min length) and the transcription comes to over 3500 words.

I know that's good from a quality-content perspective, but is it recommended to have such lengthy transcripts in the blog post with the video, for every single video on the site? (Right now there's only 2 but there will be a lot more added almost on a daily basis).

Should I use pagination and split the 3500 words into 2-3 separate posts?

Also, the way I transcribed the first video was I pulled the audio from the clip & ran it through Dragon Naturally Speaking. DNS types my speech just fine when I actually speak, but it made A LOT of silly mistakes when I transcribed with an audio file, not to mention every time I said "uh" it inserted "A" (I know not to say UH as much now...lol). So basically I had to play the 30 minute clip while editing the transcribed text as I went along. It took way too long for this entire process for a 30 minute clip and I don't want to be bogged down editing 1 blog post for 5 hours every day.

Do you video bloggers have any tips on making the above mentioned process more efficient?

Thanks for any tips and suggestions!

transcripts are a good spider food, however, there are other ways for the search engines to understand what a video is about. I have found that if you put a meta description tag within the embed code of the video, then Google will understand what that video is all about. From my own research, it helps in boosting the video ranking within the search engines.

Try to hire a dirt cheap transcriber. But be cautious on whom to hire. Luckily, I have found a provider from Fiverr. Her username is clowdine. Try to look her up and see whether she could help you out.

@Nickolie: Thanks for the tips. Yes, I'm aware of how to optimize a video for SEO, I was just speaking more from the user-experience perspective on my site. I want them to be able to read if that is what they prefer (as many do), and not hold them hostage to watching the videos only. I guess my real question should have been more around the most efficient process of getting that done.

@TheWinWinDeal: Yeah, I've looked at Fiverr. I'll give some gigs there a shot, if it comes to that. I'm OK doing it myself for the time-being, I guess.
