Autoresponders to sell your product?

Once I have my lead sign up to my squeeze page, how many emails should I send them and over what time period?

I was thinking to send 7 emails over a 2 week period so one every other day.

Is this too little or not enough?

I would do every day for the first seven days while it is still fresh in their mind. Then maybe every or second third day for the second week.

Here's what's always worked well for my clients: a welcome email the moment they sign up, the strongest email of your series the next day, then space out the rest of your messages once every 3 days after that.

For almost everything, it's not enough.

I have a couple of niches in which I make more sales after the 15th email than before it. (Those are exceptions, of course, but it costs almost nothing to allow for them).

I email mine for ever, but if you want to stop, I'd give them at least 30 emails or 3 months, whichever is the longer.

      Here's a clue for you...

Just as a research project, I signed up for Eben Pagan's (as David DeAngelo) Double Your Dating list via his now infamous 'kiss' squeeze page.

I wanted to see how many emails he sent.

When I finally gave up, it was over 300.

Here's a tip to go with the clue...

You don't have to actually write 300+ messages. For many lists, it's quite possible to simply reset the message counter and start a sequence over again. The odds of someone a) reading every email in a series of, say, 100, and b) remembering all of them, and c) spotting the repeats are pretty low.

One series I've used is to send an educational series that lasts a week or two (5-10, depending on subject) and then a weekly newsletter (50). When they get newsletter #50, the AR resets the counter to the first newsletter.

They stay on the list until they "buy or die" (unsubscribe, email goes bad, etc.).

This tends to work better in the 'obsessive buyer' niches (hobbies, etc.) than the 'desperate buyer' niches (health conditions, etc.).

As always, your mileage may vary. Mine does, that's why testing is important.

    That is not enough.

I would recommend that you create at least 15-30 emails. Each going out every 2-3 days.

This will a good number of emails because if you have too few, you really don't have enough to presell your product to them.

As the copywriter for the AR series I use the 'collection agency model'
and I follow a similar soft-sell to hard-sell progression through the email
series. The AR series would consist of 7-10 emails and follow this
    general CONTENT pattern:

Letter 1 – Thank you for sending for the report /more information, here’s the link.

Letter 2 – Hope you got the report; here are some reasons why you’ll want my product.

Letter 3 – Here are some questions people are ASKING about my product. (FAQ)

Letter 4 – Here are what people are SAYING about my product. (Testimonials.)

Letter 5 – Here are some of the strongest BENEFITS to getting my product. (Limited Offer)

Letter 6 – Time is running out on the special BONUS. How I beat the competition.

Letter 7 – What’s keeping you back from ordering? Knock down objections.

Letter 8 – Other people who ordered are already enjoying the benefits, don’t lose out.

Letter 9 – Here’s a LIMITED offer—price reduction, sneak preview, secret link etc.

Letter 10 – Frankly I’m puzzled that you haven’t ordered yet. Final hard sell.

Of course you can email forever and you will catch some sales afterward
but most of your sales will come during the first 14 days.

The emails are sent out Days 0,1,3,5,7,10,14

This series would be used for selling a product and not
    many products over time.

      And there's your answer.

Seriously, this is a great thread, but as you can see, you simply have to test to see what's going to work best for your list and your niche.
