Dragon Naturally Speaking = Which Version?

Yesterday I played around with the speech recognition in Windows 7 and I was blown away. Even though it was not very accurate, I got a lot done with it.

I plan to invest in Dragon Naturally Speaking for greater accuracy and cant decide if I should get the home version at $50 or if the Premium version at around $130 is worth the difference?

Also has anyone tried the one that comes with the blutooth headset? If so how good is that headset? Reviews I found were very mixed.

    You just have to ask if you need the Pro version. I DO because of the macros options - I use it with other specialised software and being able to "command" macros is REALLY useful. That's one advantage of Pro, not sure of the others

    Lee, one of the benefits of the premier version is the ability to feed it an mp3 and get back a transcription.

      Just have to make sure that your mp3 is coded right. DNS doesn't like my digital recorder at all due to coding issues. Its all good, transcription isn't too expensive.

        I have a feeling that its transcription capabilities aren't going to be all that great, especially if you're transcribing interviews. It'd probably come in really handy if you're writing long novels or papers, as you wouldn't be hindered by the brief but noticeable delays that come into play when it transcribes in real time.

          Dragon Naturally Speaking doesn't work with interviews with multiple users well, and they mention it I believe.

          My purpose was to be able to talk out content on my long drives and be able to transcribe it into articles and such. I couldn't tell you how many times I came up with some great ideas on the road, just to not be able to save them for later. I still carry my digital recorder, just in case, but realize that I am going to have to either turn it into an audio product, or outsource transcription.

          I will buy a recorder that works well with it later, but I have bigger fish to fry first.

            Doug, I realize that DNS's MP3 transcription abilities would be great for product creation of just about any kind. I wonder if you've tested it out with Android phones to determine whether they work well together, especially when using a decent Bluetooth headset?

    In the end, it comes down to how you plan to use Dragon Naturally Speaking.

    For my purposes, everything I needed was in the Home version, and that saved me a good amount of money.
