If you won a prize, and a choice to choose, would it be CASH, or PHYSICAL GOODS or Holidays?

Hey Warriors,

Can you help me out for a moment...

If you were offered a prize (regardless of the value), what would you like to have, CA$H...

Or.....

PHYSICAL GOODS, ie, PC's, Mac's, Rolex's, etc.

or

Holidays, weekend trip, or trip around the world all expenses paid for, etc.

I would really appreciate it if you could lend a thought...

Cheers

Loz

Without specifics, I'd take cash. But if you were offering a weekend with, maybe, Salma H. I might go with the babe. I guess, like everything, it would depend.

Cash definitely. Holiday prizes are normally a bit restrictive when it comes to dates, where you go, where you stay etc. so I prefer to book my own holidays.

With physical goods, unless it was something I really wanted, I'd probably end up selling it or giving it away.

        Hi Loz,

Different strokes and all that...but I don't think I'd be much motivated to enter a contest for the chance of winning cash or stuff.

I'd be much more interested in experiences; especially those that any amount of money might not procure.

For instance, a dinner with someone I've long admired but, in normal circumstances, would be unlikely to meet; or tickets to a sold out event.

          Hi Loz,

I spent 48 years working on different fields.

Under this time frame, I worked as a manager quite a few times. One task was for me to motivate my staff. From my experience I can say, the best motivational device was the cash.

          Why?

Because the money is such a converter tool that you can use it on what you want. Still I think so.

One more thing. You need to bear in mind: what are your goals; how and when do you need to apply it; what type of people do you work with.

          Best,

          Sandor

Cash always appears the first choice but a memorable prize which you wouldn't normally buy yourself (maybe with spending money) is always a great prize.

I once won a trip to stay in the Ice Hotel in Sweden all expenses paid, if it had been money it would have been spent and forgotten, it is not a trip I would have spent money on but am glad I experienced it.

Another trip I won through sales was a Porsche Trip where you are given a Porsche for a weekend with a group and are taken all over Europe with all expenses paid.

Ice Hotel Welcome to ICEHOTEL. More than a hotel made of ice and snow.

Porsche Trip Porsche Shortbreaks - Porsche Travel Club - Motorsport & Events - Dr. Ing. h.c. F. Porsche AG

If it is a trip/holiday make it a special one.

    Hope this give some ideas.

I would most likely take the cash but it depends on how much it is.

If it is a couple hundred dollars then i would take the mac or rolex of course.

If it is 10's or 100's of thousands then of course i would take the

money aka the green, the cash, cake, the loot, the paper, cheddar, dough, stacks
cheese ...I think you get the point

I may choose the cash, depending on how much cash it is.
If it's not that much, I would choose whatever prize I want or need more.
For example, I would probably choose the computer next, however if I had just bought a brand new computer then that wouldn't be my next choice so I would pick something else of equal or greater value (if possible). Maybe even a trip if I'm ready to go on a vacation. So it would depend on what's more convenient. But if you wanted a simple answer I could of just said money (depending on how much), computer, trip.

Nothing but cold hard cash I think. Then I go ahead and spend them on whatever I want.

Straight up lump sum cash is nice. Would you like my account details?

I'd spend it on a holiday I think, perhaps give some to my parents so they can enjoy themselves a bit more - They work very hard they deserve it.

Putting my taxman hat on (ALL prizes are taxable), cash prizes can sometimes cost ya. When a prize is "in kind" (non-cash) a variety of strategies suddenly become available for VALUATION of the prize (for tax purposes). With cash, no such luck.

    Thanks everyone for your feedback.

I'm looking to do a $50-100k prize giveaway, I'm just trying to figure out how much for first prize, etc.

No one that I know of so far has gone over the $70k mark in cash and physical prizes, so I wanna turn some heads and be the first

    Cheers again everyone...
