I write 3-6 articles per day and submit to several article directories and selected ezines. They are collectively bringing in about $10,000 - $12,000 per month with links to my affiliate programs, products and services. Of course, I have been doing this for many years.

Go for mass submission because there is no duplicate content penalty, I use a hand full of the more popular article, ezine sites as well as niche specific article submission sites.

Article Post Robot makes this quick and easy

I have 600 articles under different pen names on EZA. I make money on affiliate products, adsense, and ghostwriting.

My articles are producing quite a lucrative income, and I write 3 or 4 new articles nearly every day.

Watch out, Steve W - I may catch you one of these days

      I have a total of 650.

I have 560 under my name and close to 100 under a few others. I make pretty good money consistently from article writing (with a twist).

On one blog, I have 1700 posts, many of them 500 word articles, and I have around 700 articles on the various directories. On other blogs, I have anywhere from 50 to 500 posts/ articles ...

Re directories, I stick to EA. I'd rather add more content than fiddle around posting to many directories.

As to income, I'd rather not say. (She says, smiling coyly.) :-)

If you're just starting out, please don't think you HAVE to get this much material online overnight. However, the sooner you start, the sooner you make decent money.

I started blogging in 2001/ 2002; plus posting to directories when I was building an email list. I stopped article marketing for several years (I was stupid), then got into it again in a determined way this year.

Over the past seven years, I've made many mistakes. A big one was not learning SEO basics earlier. My background is in copywriting; I write business books, and articles for magazines too, so initially I was "print focused" on my blogs. Which was OK, until the Web got more competitive.

Finally I realized that my best articles would NEVER be found if I didn't learn SEO, so I did.

If you're new to IM: here's some free advice (which is worth what you paid for it.) :-)

Realize NOW that you're always learning

Learning is essential. You can't learn everything at once, but everything you learn gives you more power. Learn something every day -- it doesn't matter what it is -- and apply what you learn.

My "learning project" for 2009 is getting into affiliate marketing more. I enjoy it, and the added skills I learn from pushing other people's products will help me to sell my own products, and and everything I learn will help my students.

Finally re "How Many Articles Do YOU Have?" -- not enough. :-) There's a reason the A-list bloggers blog 5 to 10 times a day. The more content you have, the more income. It's as simple as that.

Hope that hearing about my mistakes helps you, and that you're not scared of making your own mistakes. As someone once said, if you're not failing in something at least once a day, you're not trying hard enough. :-)

    Cheers

    Angela
