Happy Anniversary to Me!

Wow! I realized that today is December 20th! It's a big day for me! Let me explain:

In 2007 I had tried to hang on and stay afloat as a real estate investor, but when the mortgage industry tanked, so did my business . . . consequently I was stuck with several vacant houses in various stages of rehab. All these houses were attached to big mortgage payments and the banks were getting very tight with their lending.

So I poured all the resources I had into keeping my business running and paying my bills. But by December 20, 2007 I was literally down to my last $20 in cash. Meanwhile I had thousands of dollars of bills coming due on January 1st. It was the darkest period of my life and I had no idea what I would do.

Just a few weeks before I had started to dabble in Internet Marketing after reading Your Portable Empire. I bought a couple eBooks and started working day and night to get a free blog up and running so I could sell a couple eBooks.

Fast forward to January 2008 -- without knowing it, a primary area of interest in my life was a microniche (I didn't even know what a niche was at the time). I started writing my blog and pretty soon the sales started pouring in! Words cannot express how happy and relieved I was to have money coming in rather than all going out.

That one little site has served as my primary income for all of 2008. I am still working my way out of the debt that accumulated in my failed business, but I am on my way to being debt free. I have learned so much about this business and that is in large part due to this forum.

I want to thank all the Warriors who so generously share their knowledge and wisdom on the forum. I also want to encourage those who might be struggling financially at this time with the current economic challenges.

If you find yourself in desperate need of money, I encourage you to find a guru or two who are well-respected and really good at what they do. Invest a little bit of money in their how-to books and then follow their advice step-by-step. Then invest a TON of time and energy. Stay focused and keep following their advice. Don't turn to the left or to the right. Just stay moving straight ahead.

This is a great business. It takes work and discipline . . . but it will produce a nice income if you are willing to do what it takes to be successful.

Thank you Warriors. Thanks for giving so much and sharing yourself so generously!
