I keep cracking - Looking for a mentor

Greetings everyone

I'll start off by saying, I'm not a newbie. I have done a few sites, specifically sites built on the affilorama blueprint 2 model. I have switched it up, over done the web design, and all the things I suppose we all do when we are new. I made sure that all my pages had all the SEO'ing done. Everytime I get to the backlinking and off-page SEO, I crack. I don't know why, but when I get to this point, I give up.

I have tried to gather information on my own, like I did for rest of what I have learned, but ever time people use lingo I can't follow. Things that I know is suppose to be ridiculously easy to grasp. Like social bookmarking. Its killing me that I'm off'ing myself on this part.. SO!

I'll take a chance, and ask here, if someone will take me under their wing for a week or so, and try to show me the ropes. I know its controversial to ask this, and its usually something that happens between friends, but I'll give it a go regardless. As this is business, I'm more then willing to try and make it a win win, and by that I mean repay the favor in some way, but I guess we can figure that out, if anyone is interested.

    When you come across 'lingo' you do not understand, what do you
    do? Have you ever thought about googling the terms you have trouble
    with?

    Do you stop because you are afraid to go further, or is it a matter of
    not understanding or knowing what to do?

    I think its a mix. When you deal with the site, its simple. Pick Niche, key word research, SEO optimized content, a bit of web design, on-page SEO... Done. Off-page SEO seems so otherworldly to me. To my knowledge the only way to do this, is by link building by making forum posts on related forums, and comments on blogs. To this, I'll need to have a user, and some sort of reputation on that forum or site, which is hard work in itself. I love working out from a model, and optimizing it. I do like to get creative but when I don't even understand the arena I'm playing in, its kinda hard to.

    As for looking it up, yes I do, but my usual "google it" seem to always take me places with vague explanations, and more language (since "lingo" is obviously a miss spelling judging from your high light) I don't get. Like web 2 sites, auto blogs, linkwheels, article directories (well I know what that is, but really, the hups you have to go through just to upload a article on these sites is ridiculous, theres gotta be a better way to get 1-2 links).

    Adding to that, since I have no actual feel for how many backlinks is required, I'm thinking even 2000 backlinks is too low to make a difference. It just mounts up to being an impossible challenge. In other areas of my life, where this has kind of thing has presented it self, I have usually been able to break things down to make it easier, like with clubing (waaauw, I'm not afraid to admit I'm a gerk, and that one was a killer for me), and girls. I got a mentor, who pointed me in the right directions, walked me through it a few times, and now I'm playing a completely different game with more success then with what he taught me.

      There are systems available for backlinking. You can learn and do them or outsource. If you have money, then outsourcing would be preferred because backlinking kinda sucks only because it is tedious and time-consuming.

      There are people here who do backlinking. You can buy wso's about it. You can use the search function and read lots about it. Select thread titles rather than posts to save time.

      You did not misspell lingo. I only did that to refer to the term you used. You used it correctly, by the way.

      ... 'hups' is actually, hoops.

      That really is not a lot of work at all. But if you are dealing with many of them, then of course the time adds up. A better way? There are better ways. Keep in mind that some backlinks are much more valuable than others. If english is not your first language, then either outsource article writing (how ever you plan to use them) or avoid it for now.

      You don't really need auto blogs. Plus, see the thread in the main forum about 'federal lawsuit for autoblog.' Just a head's up.

      Off page is just getting backlinks, really. If you can afford it, I suggest you outsource to someone who is reputable, experienced, gets backlinks of reasonable quality and you can afford. There are lots of different ways to approach backlinking.

      2000 backlinks is really not a lot. Doing it by hand will not be fun. If you can outsource it, then that would be best.

    Yes some kind of training course may be your best route. It is not surprising that you are intimidated by the link building numbers. Building link by link manually would take a long time. There is a lot of software that makes things easier. It's all about being smart with your link building. For example, if you have some kind of link bait that goes viral, most of your link building could be done by other people. Finding a one on one mentor would probably be difficult, but I'm sure you could find a good membership site or other type of training program. Also, don't be afraid to take advantage of outsourcing. There are many skilled SEO pros in foreign countries that work for quite cheap wages.

    You need to listen to people like Tony Robbins who can give you that drive to move forward and complete whatever you're doing. He can be searched on Youtube. That's what I do when I have nobody to talk to and need that boost of encouragement to never give up. Have you watched the Secret Millionaire 2011 yet?. Just Google Secret Millionaire 2011 and watch the show. It's inspiring and can help you in your goals as well. You don't need a mentor ... you need inspiration.

      Well I might, but really I just need to not feel like I'm starting piecing together a puzzle missing half the pieces.

    You don't have to gave up when things go wrong. You have to be patient. There are lots of ways to ask advice from the experts. I am pretty sure they will help you. It's just that you have to invest financially but it's worth having for.

    You have access to a thousand mentors in this very forum. Seriously, if you get stuck then come and post a thread and ask people for help. That is what we are all here for and you will probably get an answer to your question much quicker than if you only had one mentor to rely on. The other great thing about running your questions past everyone in the forum is that you will often find shortcuts or ways to do things you might never have discovered otherwise.

    Oh, and if you think your questions are too 'dumb' to be asking here... well they aren't. We all started exactly where you are.

    A mentor can only push you so far - you need to have the motivation to make things work. That includes being able to get the job done without someone breathing down your neck.
