Does anyone know how to make an automated payment system when after someone has paid via PayPal, they will receive the product?

In this case an eBook?

Thanks in advance,
Ken

  • When you set up your Buy Button in Paypal, look in the third section. It says:
Step 3: Customize advanced features (optional)

Look through the options until you find this:

Take customers to this URL when they finish checkout

Tick the box, and add in the url to your html page with your ebook's download link.

Couldn't someone exploit this and paste the URL to other Forums etc?

This is a problem but not really one you should worry to much about it. So what, someone give your download link away? Think of it as free PR, it gets you and your product to another customer. If it's quality and you cross sell other products within maybe they'll buy one of them.

If your sales site is wordpress based i highly recommend the s2member plugin. The free version is awesome but if you have a little bit to invest, the pro version can integrate the PayPal pro forms and therefore the user doesn't have to leave your site for making a payment.

Ah, now that's a different question. Yes, that is an insecure method in that people could potentially share your download link. In that case, check out ejunkie or DLGuard.

Alright, thanks. I just signed up for eJunkie at a 7 day free trial.

I got my first product on there so we'll see what happens.

I think the above posts offer the best solution but ebooks can often be delivered by autoresponders as well.

After a customer buys you can redirect them to a Thank You page with an opt in. When they opt in you can either

          a) Automatically redirect them to the product's page

          b) send them an actual follow up email with your product as an attachment.

          Cheers,

          James

PayPal doesn't like this. They consider it a form of fraud - the user ordered a product, but can't have it until they agree to receive your emails. Arguing that they can just unsubscribe doesn't impress anyone.

I use E-Junkie, S2Member, SiteManPro, and RAP to deliver products. All of them are perfectly good solutions. I haven't used DLGuard, but I hear it's very good. I've also just picked up Big Mike's WP InstantPay plugin, but haven't used it yet.

And I've been known to code up my own personal DL protection scripts, too. Most people can't do that effectively, though, so I wouldn't recommend it as a general solution.

EDIT: Gave the wrong name for Big Mike's plugin. The WSO is also up for that plugin (not an affiliate link) - http://www.warriorforum.com/warrior-...g-up-soon.html

If you put a constant link for download, it will easily get exploited and your product will be all over the internet (thanks to piracy). You have to create a unique link for every buyer. DPD Shopping Cart | The Easy Way to Sell Downloads, Keycodes, and Tangible Goods and E-junkie Shopping Cart for selling downloads & tangible goods can help you with doing that and protect your product reaching others for free.

Thanks for all the great replies. I'm going to give eJunkie a shot! It's really late and I didn't bother looking over there terms of service or if they take any % commission. Hopefully my next campaign runs smoothly.

I've been with e-junkie for some time now and they've been very reliable. Highly recommend them as well. Btw, they don't take a % from your
sales. Just a flat monthly rate.

I also think e-junkie works well and there is an easy way to send out review copies to marketers if you wish. Plus they have an affiliate program built in that you can use.

Does anyone have an opinion between using e-junkie or DL Guard? It looks to me like DL Guard charges a one-time fee, but it can be used on multiple websites and is not limited to the number of products. E-junkie charges monthly, but with a large number of products and more websites, the charges could add up to be considerably more than DL Guard.

Uhm... You can use a product called Delavo ..Its free and you can sell multiple items from multiple sites including memberships all from one control panel and it will protect your downloads

There are paid versions, but the free version of Delavo will do you fine until your ready to upgrade your business.

        Matthew,
Thanks for the lead on Delavo. I'm checking into it. Turns out, these decisions can be confusing.

There are a few ways to accomplish this.

    1) Use paypal's success page (as stated above, paypal doesn't like it when you turn that page into an opt-in page so it's a little less flexible)

    2) Manually process each delivery (can be tedious)

    2) Purchase a script that can do it automatically for you

You want to make life easy for this product and all future products, buy DLGuard. One time fee for the program and you can use it with as many products as you can make. It has a lot of features. I love it.

Just to add another option in the mix, you could consider using DigiResults (used by a fair few WF members).

From memory, I think they charge $1 per transaction.

I will recommend e-junkie because they give room for multiple websites to be integrated. They are reliable as well.
