Some quick words of advice would be to find something and stick with it. Generally affiliate marketing works for newbies, checkout clickbank

Learn the basic premises of making sales:

    1. Offer a great product (either yours or an affiliate deal)
    2. Create a message that makes people want to buy
    3. Get that message in front of a targeted audience

There is enough info on this forum for you to master all three of these.

As I looked through the comments, all of the options I was going to suggest to you are there. So, I"ll recap:-)

Sell on eBay - your own items or you can start selling other people's things they want to sell and charge a service fee for it (or get part of the profits)

Offer a service - writing, proofreading, editing, etc.

I have a different - very novel perspective for you to think about. If you are taking classes or have taken classes recently think about turning your course into articles on a blog.

Add your own twist to the course work and write it up. Blogs are one of the basic pillars of affiliate marketing. You can set up an account for about $10 a month or you can try a free Wordpress.org site.

There is a danger in the free hosting - they could shut you down for no good reason. So start on the free site - save your content frequently and after a few sales - or you find some cash - move to a host gator or Go Daddy account.

Pick the blog format and populate it with 1) original content and 2) graphics that enhance the topic. Break up the writing with graphics and lots of white space. Limit of between 500 - 750 words is the consensus number of words the attention challenged internet searcher will tolerate if the reading is good.

Your blog will allow you to link your graphics with squeez page links and affiliate links as well.

You probably won't have the money to join a program - but if you do I think you will get a lot out of Chris Farrell's Membership.

Google his name, watch his videos and learn some of the techniques.

If you leave a link on my blog I will be glad to give you some links to other free information that may get your blog up and running. Yaro Starak and Guidian Shalwag have posted a whole host of exceptional videos on blogging.

I have tested their suggestions and their technical recommendations are very good.

Use a blog for traffic and Chris Farrell's program are good together. He also uses twitter and facebook a lot. You might be able to get a lot of traffic from them as well. Use your contacts on campus - it could be useful.

Best of luck in your studies - a very exciting time. Blogging and affiliate marketing seem just right for college - you have that ready source of information and a perfect student audience.

    Cheers !

This is an awesome method I see a lot of people missing out on. I tell friends of mine who are in collage to try making a blog based on what they are learning for extra money all the time.

Welcome to the Forum. One of the things you'll learn in Internet Marketing is the more know, the more you realize you don't know.

This is not meant to scare you but to rather get you prepared to start learning. When first beginning don't waste your time and money on any kind of system someone is offering.

There are ones out there that work but you don't want to waste your money trying to find one. Take some time to learn how to build a site, SEO it, and getting traffic. Once you know the three just mentioned then the money making part will come easy.

With only one post here and you joined in April, you can't really get an answer to that kind of question.

You need to read the forum, decide how you want to make money from all of the options you read about, learn everything about that method and get started implementing it.

No one here can hand you a one size fits all solution. Start reading.

I know it was meant as a joke, but in all reality, that's the best solution.

You can't just start making money if you have no clue what you are doing. Start off with a job to pay your immediate bills and use your spare time to study marketing principles.

If you try to make money in desparate times(when you need it the moste and you don't know what you are doing)...it will backfire.

After you get your job, then it's time to start thinking "What can I do for someone that would make them want to give me money". Do you want to offer a service, do you want to offer an information product, do you want to offer a physical product???? Think about these questions before you try to figure out the technical stuff on "how to do it". You need to have a product first. What is it?

Once you have your product, now it's time to dive in and figure out how to present it online. First thing first.

      Steps:

      1. Get a part time job to take care of bills and spending money
      2. Work hard at your internship and learn all you can
      3. Define "what" you want to offer as a business
      4. Research several ways others are successfully selling similar products (don't reinvent the wheel)
      5. Implement

  • Hey there newbie,

The very first thing I would do is sign up at ericstips.com. He provides video tutorials for newbies and shows step by step how to setup an online business. He even covers technical information. Also PLR could be of great use to you. Private Label Rights are products that you can sell and keep 100% of the profits, as opposed to being an affiliate where you just make a commission. Doing more than on thing to make money however, is the best way to ensure you always have money coming in. I would also find these people on the web as they are some of the best in the business when it comes to training: Paul Counts, Jeff Wellman, Keith Wellman, Liz Tomey, and Eric Holmlund( Erics Tips Guy). Most of all dont give up and try not to get discouraged, because there is a learning curve in this business. Every obstacle overcome, gets you closer to making that money. Eventually, most of your work will be automated, adn you can focus on new ventures, finding JV partners, and getting traffic to your sites. I know this info will help you on your journey!

    Peace and Love,

    Anthony Spencer

P.S. Research the Law of Attraction too. This will help you realize your own power to achieve your hearts desire.

I actually have quite a bit of advice for you. First, figure out how much time you can realistically dedicate to creating an income. Second, list out any skills you have like writing, SEO, design, or anything else. Third, market those skills for cash right off the bat.

You can join the war room, then pay to put an ad in the warrior for hire section. Once you do this you can gain business from there right away.

A balanced attack is best where you use one of your skill, myself I write, and the tips you will find in the forum. I started by writing for others for more instant money and I built my business with my own writing and marketing on the side until I did not have to write as much for others.

It can take time to build up an income with just affiliate marketing, but if you market a skill here and on sites like fiverr or elance, then you can make some money right away to help out while you build your affiliate marketing up.

The best advice I could give you is to:

    1. Find a product that you have knowledge in or anything that interests you.
    2. Get familiarized with that product/opportunity.
    3. Choose one marketing technique wether it be advertising on facebook, or myspace, or twitter, or forums. Whatever it may be, just pick ONE for the time being and become an expert at it.
    4. Watch your lead generation increase and make income on auto-pilot.

    Good luck!

My advice to you is to spend at least 2 weeks and read the threads in this forum. Do some searches here. It will be some of the best education you can get in marketing.

The next bit of advice I can give is to find something and stick with it, do not jump around from one thing to the next. Willie Crawford gave me that advice many years ago and it was some of the best advice I ever got.

Selling services, as some of the other members have suggested here, is a great idea, especially when you're just starting out, as long as you don't mind putting in a little elbow grease.

There are a ton of things that people would be willing to pay you to do for them: writing articles, building links, making and/or submitting videos, designing website graphics, building blogs. The list goes on and on...

    Hope that helps.

I agree with one of the posters above. Take notes in your course of study and post to a blog. You might even be able to add your own twist to it and sell as an ebook to help other students pass the course.

People pay for information and information is all around us. Just collect it, package it, and sell it.

Just about every piece of information that is being sold today is available for free somewhere on the internet. The people who make the money are the ones who collect it, package it, and make it easily accessible to people who would rather pay you for the information than spend days trying to look it up them selves. Take advantage of this and it could mean some nice money for you.

    Good luck in your endeavors.

      Hey,

Welcome to the forum. When I first started, I was completely lost. There was a lot of information, and that can become overwhelming. You absolutely have to find an area that you want to concentrate on, and focus your attention on that. If you begin to try and learn to much information without applying it, then you will get no where fast. Next, you want to find a mentor as fast as possible. Someone that has been there and done that. This is your quickest way to success.

Become a sponge and learn as much as possible. One can waste a lot of time finding the right educational resource. Try to find a handful and stick with them. Find a strategy or two that you like and focus on those. The first times you try, you probably will not make any money. But become an expert at those strategies and keep at it.

      So much good advice here!

      My suggestions:

      1. Don't wait! Jump right in . . the longer you wait to do something , the less likely you are to take action.

      2. Find something you love to do and then market that skill as a freelancer. There are so many options online with some great ideas above, but again. Jump in and do SOMETHING

      3. Turn off the TV, Facebook, and Email. Determine how much time you can devote (outside your internship) each day and DO SOMETHING productive.

Let us know what you decide and how it works out for you!

my small advice is simple - start off in affiliate marketing. choose a product, read the sales copy well. take out the main points it claims to solve and start writing articles about them. do some research and write even more. then create a small site which redirects to the affiliate product site. Start submitting your articles slowly witha link to your redirect site. ezinearticles will be a good start. and keep on increassing the number of articles written and submitted

I' m sure you will do fine! Great suggestions have been made under your post by fellow warriors already. If I were you, I would start with a blog, as suggested above. The material is already available to you and it wouldn't be a great deal to maintain and monetize it.
Regarding online marketing, it would be safer to start with affiliate marketing. You can find extended tutorials at Digital Products Retailer: Affiliate Program & Sell Online - ClickBank
Finally, you could always keep an eye on the wso forum, as fellow warriors are teaching simple strategies to make money online at steal prices. However, don't become a wso addict, as you will end up spending more than you can afford. And stick to one method that makes sense to you. Don't jump from one method to another. It's a pure waste of time (and money!).
      Remember: LESS IS MORE!
I wish you all the best!

In my opinion, the first step in affiliate marketing is choosing a market to sell to, for example, golfers or dog owners. Then when you know who you are marketing to, you can choose affiliate products they would be interested in.

This is better than jumping from niche to niche. By choosing a market first, then you can promote several different products to them all within the same niche.
