A youtube video that could go viral?

A friend's dog does something very funny when asked a certain question. I'm thinking about video taping it and putting it on YouTube.

I really do believe that this video could go viral so if I do tape this dog and upload it to YouTube, how can I monetize it so if it does go viral I can make some money?

You can advertise a product about dog training at the end of the video with an affiliate link in your signature.

Make sure you use an url shortener!

Good idea. I have read some about pre-roll and mid-roll advertisements but not sure if I would get paid for impressions only or the visitor must click on the advertisement before I got paid?

Hey, if you are uploading to you tube, you would do a clickable link that would roll up. You'd find this under you tube advertising and after you added the video, you would need to add the overlay. If you solely use the overlay, you could direct link to the affiliate offer.

I wouldn't suggest watermarking your video in case you decide to switch offers

Just use an annotation in you tube to show the url again.

Your best bet is to find a CPA offer with a free gift card to like petsmart. It's hard to sell a clickbank product on you tube with out a good how to video. IMHO.

    Good Luck!

        Bill,
Funny video. It looks like he is using Google Adsense in which I don't have an Adsense account but I could use an alternative. This video has over 16 Million views. Any way of estimating the amount of income that has been generated from this one video?

Lots of good advice from several warriors....

Let me give u my spin on "viral."

Most people are under the impression that a video that gets a million views automatically means someone is getting paid....when in fact I know for sure that in certain niches a video that is set up with a hyper link , leading TO AN OFFER THAT IS RELEVANT....often can crush and dominate said niche with 5,000 views.

Make sure that the first thing written on your description reads HTTP://WWW.YOURWEBSITE.COM because that's an automatic hyper link....that should lead to a squeeze page...........rather then a direct sales page.

I have built a substantial list on auto pilot by producing ghetto style videos that all fall under the same theme......and in a matter of 9 weeks have generated over 28,000 views.....with half ass optimization.

Do not be afraid to produce your own content either...it's stupid simple.....and pick a niche because You Tube is now the second leading search engine only behind google.

Punch in "how to make" in the search engine and see what pops up....then do some basic keyword research and find a niche you enjoy. Soon enough you become the Player....you engage them...they trust you because they share your passion for this or that......and then u sell them.

Also...don't think for one second that your videos need be slick and polished as those type of vids often scare off clients as they smack of "salesmanship" capiche!

I purposely shoot a style of video ripped off from the adult film industry who figured out that night vision shots, herky jerky moving of the camera, so-called hidden cameras etc......created a REALISTIC FEEL...FOR A LOT LESS MONEY.

Truth is.....what's known in the adult industry jargon book as reality porn aint reality....it's just made to look that way....and it's a powerful technique that can be applied to any niche.

My own testing proves that ghetto vs. slick and professional is no contest.....ghetto videos that engage..done consistently will out sell the computer templates 3 to 1.

Engage your viewers...........build rapport.....get them drunk.....and then mug them.

They will even thank u for it...trust me.

          Best of Luck....

Interesting response. Making video that is real looking and not slick makes sense. What I am considering doing is video taping a friend's dog who has a very interesting response when asked a certain question.

A friends has several videos on YouTube and after a 1,000 views YouTube contacted him asking if he wanted to put PPC adverts on his videos and share the revenue, so I thought I could do this if this video generates a lot of traffic.

Interesting thread. I've bought YouTube accounts before to monetize with affiliate products. It works quite well with the right product.
