Hi - Yes, sadly a lot of them are over filled with hype and people will sell their soul for a comment. Most come with zero guarantees. Some don't, not too far from here... all the very best, Allen

Try to find someone you trust. See how long they've been around on the forum. Read through their threads to get a feel if they know what they're talking about. Check out their repuation. Do your due diligence before you buy!!

The very first one that I bought a couple of years ago about building niche Amazon sites helped me to start earning decent amounts. Whenever I'm interested in buying plugins or services I look there first to see if I can get a discount and I make money from using them. I've picked up some info products lately that I have learned from and I'm sure will help me to earn more. I've only ever bought a couple of duds and they didn't cost much. I don't go for hype though, never click on anything that promises to make me rich unless I want a laugh.

For anybody new I would spend time browsing the forum instead of spending. There are some fantastic threads that will give you step by step instructions on different facets of Internet marketing. Ask questions if you're not sure about anything. Then when you've learned more check the offers out, but wait until they've been running a while and had time to get some realistic feedback.

Here's my 2 cents...

Rather than sifting through the 5,000+ offers looking for something to catch your eye, take a more proactive approach and know what you're looking for on the front end. Figure out what you don't know but need to know, and then look for a product that fills in the gaps. This is something that took me a little while to learn, but since has made my life much easier by both saving me money and saving me time.

If what you need is just a basic IM course you have some great free options, this Forum (not even including the War Room) being one of them. Also, consider Ed Dale's Challenge and Paul Myers Need To Know (no affiliation with either...just high quality material).

After getting a nice overview you'll be more apt to see where your knowledge gaps are. So instead of buying one of the million, generic, non-specific, make-money WSO's you instead know you need to learn about backlinks, or keyword research, or email marketing, or Facebook, and so on. Once you know what you don't know but need to know, then go searching for that specific solution. This gives you great focus and allows you to weed out that which is otherwise just noise.

This is the very reason why countless people buy WSO after WSO but never really go anywhere online. You must be more disciplined than that in your spending habits, and make every purchase fit within some general framework or goal of what you want or need to accomplish.

I know that doesn't directly answer your question of "are these WSOs making money", but I hope it helps. After all, no WSO has ever made anyone any money..other than the person selling it. It is always, always, always the customer's application of the method that produces results. I'm sure you recognize this, but's it's always important to point out.

Figure out what you are interested in basing your business model on. Once you know what you want to do, do some research. Start Googling and find out everything you can on your method.

Once you have a grasp on what it takes and decide that it is a good fit for you, start taking action. Only then would you be ready to buy a product that offers a shortcut. How can you buy a shortcut for something you know nothing about? Talk about pulling the cart before the horse!

Yep the people who sold them!

You should learn something from that fact first of all (seriously!)...

Second you should undrstand that the Internet IS capable of producing some serious incomes. No BS this stuff does work often... BUT... Only if YOU do!

Most people buy stuff looking for some magic bullet and expect $$$ to just appear... nah ah... The world doesn't work that way.

As a product and tool junkie I have over time acquired a massive library of "latest shiny things" and let me tell you they could aALL work but on the whole I, like nearly all, read it and say yeah sonds good... Then Do Little or Nothing About it...

Some are crap others sheer brilliance but it comes down to YOU

Some require more consideration than others and some just need DOING witjout stopping relentlessly then you won't fail.

Real advice - don't believe the hype, ignore 90% of the "testimonials" and filter through to find something YOU might actually find interesting to do as then you have a chance of actually doing what is needed

I disagree. If a vendor has testimonials from actual Warriors I think it is safe to say that they are not faked.

I didnt say they were faked mattaclear but often they are hyper or hyped is what I meant - I read this testimonial for example only this week on this forum:

Just saying that the OP shouldn't always fall into the trap of thinking it is the "be all and end all" - the "magic bullet" and thus they don't/won't need to do any work theselves...

Most of the WSOs I've purchased lately offer "bribes" in exchange for a testimonial, i.e., "I will give you a free bonus after you leave me a testimonial." So, while not faked, many testimonials are bought. I'm not saying there is anything wrong with this strategy, but I think it's fair to say that it breeds disingenuous testimonials...or at the least, testimonials that would not otherwise be left.

  There are very few WSO's that would not make money for the buyer, if the buyer were to put them into action. But most people don't. In fact, a significant number of buyers never even download the product they bought, much less read it. Only a tiny fraction ever take action.

I have bought over a dozen WSOs on video marketing.

Most of them essentially say some variation of "add video to your products."

Now that I've added video to my products, they sell more copies and make more money.

So... which of those WSOs do I say made me that money?

Which of them deserve good reviews, and which ones deserve criticism?

Didn't they all say effectively the same thing, and that one thing made me some money? Aren't they all pretty much equally responsible for it? Aren't they all pretty much equally as good?

You see the dilemma, I'm sure.

I make money on a trading forum promoting special offers, but is more for a specific offer inside this niche. I have thie program and I only promote stuff that I like and use. That is an important element to all of this.

I bought a WSO a few years ago that completely changed my tax bracket. A few weeks ago I bought his newest product, too, although it's basically the same thing with some updates and videos added to it. I admit, it was a bit disappointing, but this guy has made me an extra $100-150k in those 2 or 3 years, so I'm not going to complain about a lousy $27. And the new information was actually quite informative.

I quit buying WSOs that promised 'secrets' that were total BS, and instead started concentrating on WSOs that included an actual plan to follow. Of course, it also helps if the author has actually had success with his own plan.

There have been a select few that have made me money directly. But I usually don't go buying WSO's that promise to make me money (especially overnight!!). I buy WSOs that promise to provide me with some great information that I'm currently interested in trying out, or that I think will enhance my overall strategy which when you combine all that information has made me quite a bit!

it sucked monkey balls". ALL of us want to believe...
"it's our BEST one yet!"

...but few can handle the criticism that comes along

Rarely will a warrior criticize their own PRAISE...yet
so quickly we are to shoot down those who do. And
what a shame...

for it is those who find flaws & errors that MAKE us
better entrepreneurs.

I took all criticism personally starting out. Now, look-
ing back...

...It's "honesty" that improved my selling, marketing,
and product creation skills...not "praise and azz kissing".

Again, a SOLID observation.

IMHO, I don't blame those who DO take action
who "never tell".

risk to come back and "confirm" it's a risk worth
taking.

...if they're too chicken s**t to use their judge-
ment and take a small risk working hard to make
it work for them...

they deserve to be left "guessing".

Yes. I have 2 or 3 times with WSO's specifically...

however MOST of my success comes from a college
of WSO's on a SPECIFIC method or system.

If a WSO creator is talented enough, he could write
a complete system that leaves no detail out...

but I've actually worked systems that was missing a
KEY piece of the puzzle that made it work in the first
place...

now it's hard to tell sometimes if the missing piece
was intentional and designed for the buyer to figure
out themselves -- or if it was by mistake -- but the
KEY piece is often related to -- again...

sales and marketing.

I can't stress those two skills enough because it will
make or break you. It gives YOU the power to solve
problems yourself and literally MAKE a WSO that was
skipping on the details be profitable for you...

the BEST way to get good at spotting the ones that
are genuine is to get better at those two skills and
learn to TRUST your gut instinct (intuition).

Some people will tell you to "follow 1 or 2 gurus you
trust" -- but again...

you're STILL giving YOUR power away to others. It's
okay to look to certain professionals for guidance,
but NEVER rely on them -- Ever!

Learn to hone your OWN guidance system, and next
time you step into the WSO thread -- temptations
will be no more.

I usually find that WSOs are great as 'idea spinners'. It's very rare that I'd use a WSO technique out of the box. But, if I can find a new idea in the WSO, or use part of it to put a twist on something else I'm doing, then it's wortwhile for me.

To find out which WSOs are the best, I usually rely on WSO reviews, and working with Warriors who I've got to know based on previous experience. Those trust elements are important.

  I agree with Derek about searching for information that you want to learn about. That was a big turning point for me in my IM journey when I stopped listening to what everybody was telling me to do/follow/buy and just decided what I was going to do, then set out to learn about that. The thing is everybody is going to tell you this is the best thing ever since sliced bread and you should buy it because that's what puts money in their pocket.
  
  I think that just like anything in life you have to look into it before you decide and look at the person who's selling. I don't buy stupid **** in real life and I don't do it online either because I can smell BS miles away.
  
  One last note is if you do drop a few bucks on a WSO and it's total BS at least it was just a WSO so it's not like it's going to break your bank. Also then you'll know for sure not to buy from that person again. Fool me once, you know the rest.Just be smart, follow smart people and seek good information. That's my three cents...

Ummm... I can say no. No I haven't but I've just gotten into IM no more than a month ago and what I've been doing from the WSOs is learning. I've purchased about 16 different WSOs since I've started, and most, like 95% of them have been WSO of the day or have had at least 90% positive reviews. They were all great products but still didn't seem like I could do it because the WSOs implied that I had something which I didn't. Ex. Squeeze page, a small list, etc.

Anyways, I'm sure I'll have some success soon or later, as soon as I know where I'll start. But I keep hearing the same message. Just pick a focus and start. Don't get distracted and keep going so that's what I've decided to do now. Lets see where I'll end up in a few months.

I went for a WSO that had good reviews and Warriors were ranting and raving about how good it was. It was cheap, too, so I went ahead and bought. I followed the exact advice in the WSO and was banned a week later from the CPA network. The Warrior has gone quiet now.

So, like someone has mentioned above, do some research on the individual first!!!
