I am wondering if a .edu domain is worth anything being based in europe.

    If you could get a root .edu domain, yes it would have some power. However, you would need to build up the PR on it to have the most bang for your buck.

    Europe does not use the .EDU extension, they use varieties like .ed.uk and other subdomains which carry no clout for SEO. Registering actual .EDUs is impossible unless you're an educational institution.
