Auto Responder - onclick and open next steps

Hi - I have been scoring internet to see if such an option exists without lot of coding.

I have seen mailchimp, icontact, constantcontact, aweber etc...

I found a basic way to enroll an user into an auto responder campaign and shoot them an email ongoing but that's so old school. My messages are not being targeted - spray and pray

I need to send a pin-point message if someone has opened my first email, a different message if someone has clicked it and a different one for someone who hasn't bothered to even open (no interest at all - send them a coupon with subject line )

I was thinking if someone has a tool (preferably a drag and drop tool but that doesn't matter much) which can do this.

My web app has this need - when someone creates the first step, I want to send them congratulations... and ask him to do step 2. if he hasn't done step 2 after a few days, remind him after few days. Basically, hand-holding him for all steps.

Am I the only guy who see a value for this or are there anyone who sees the value? I have seen a jungle of newsletter providers but nothing advanced on auto responders and transactional.

I have seen marketo (forgive me, $1k/month on this is not I am subscribing) and the likes.

Thanks.

  • Hi,

Nice idea. Yes, I think there's a good market. If you could do it using one of the existing big boys i.e. aweber, then all the better. Have you thought about passing a unique number i.e. ?123456 (per subscriber) with the clickable url. You could then determine, by subscriber, who has clicked and who hasn't. Not sure if the open/not open is relevant, because it's the click you're really after... all the very best, Allen

    • It sounds like a good thing to consider. However I am afraid this may end up to be giving too much attention to something that may not be giving too much return.

In may endeavor you will have some people slipping through the cracks. I would concentrate on the 80% and let go of the 20% unless you want to make money out of a new app this may eat into your time. Just my 0.02

    • John.. yes, click matters. Open/unopen also does a little to me - I can resend the same message if unopen and for open, I can send B version in A/B campaign..

Allowing JSON to be passed on would be cool instead of just id.
