Recurring Billing Service?

I have a Saas model website and currently we use the basic paypal subscription billing but eventually I know I will need to change this to something more robust.

The problem is that every other provider of recurring billing requires that you have a merchant account and a gateway, which can add up and become expensive.

Any suggested services?

Setting up your own gateway needs a lot of things from your side that can be very costly. These costs for PCI compliance, your own fraud check and a whole payment infrastructure. These costs can be in hundreds of thousands of dollars (depending on your business size, your transaction volume etc). This is risky, as you will need advanced expertise to manage all these in-house.

Check out my blog post on the topic:

At PayPro Global, you get a lot of flexibility to manage your subscription plans (billing frequency, first payment delay, upgrades, cross-selling etc)

I would like to know why you think you will need another robust subscription billing? Where is PayPal falling short. PayPal is one of the most recognized billing processors in the online community. I even see a PayPal option on many of the big box stores' credit card machine.

I looked into PCI compliance and it is a nightmare even at the lowest level. PayPal does all this costly stuff for you at a very small charge.

    Best regards,

We use aMember to manage our SaaS client base and it is capable of automatically billing them each month through many different gateways.

However, you'll want to heed the advice above about PCI compliance. If you are accepting card information on your site, there are a lot of security considerations you'll need to make. We do that, and it is not cheap.

However, you should be able to avoid that by using a service, such as paypal, that will take card information securely on their site and allow you to bill it safely from your site, I know you can do this in aMember, and I'm sure many others.

However, this sort of brings you back to where you started. If Paypal is the answer, is it really worth integrating different membership software just to accommodate a different way of billing? I think it only makes sense if you want to change the way you manage your clients anyway.

Here are some payment processors that I've either used or setup for clients in the past:
    • Authorize.net
    • Stripe
    • Gumroad
    • Intuit
    • MoonClerk

    I hope this helps!

My friend circle grouped together to start a company. They provide many software services to multiple clients. For billing/invoices generation they use Apptivo Invoice. I ask for suggestion about this software, they said not bad suitable for small business.
