Well the easiest way for most of us to get great content is to either write it ourselves or outsource it. Those are really the only two options. Sure you can get PLR content, but you'll just end up editing it or rewriting it to get the best results.

  • I get quality content by writing it (or producing videos using the same ideas etc).

I'd only consider it 'quality' if I was personally involved in its production.

you should try and learn/understand your niche and contribute quality content yourself, that will really come across to your visitors/customers.

Or as previous posts say, outsource it.

When I think of content is king, it's not the quality of the article itself but how powerful it converts.

      Good question...

If your content is bait then PLR stufff is good enough.

On the other hand, if your looking for longevity in your niche (i.e., you're working on one blog as an authority) then producing your own content is king.

      Best,

    • I am a writer, and I love doing research and creating quality content. I found that even though I do not have to be passionate about the topic, I have to least to at find it interesting.

Writing about financial stuff was a bit boring until I did some research for an article I was writing for a client - about investing in mutual funds and so on. I knew very little about it, but I always make sure that is both educational and fun to read. So I was looking for some information, and hey, this was interesting, and I did not know that - I have learned a lot in the process.

If you create content just to sell something that you do not really give a fat rat's ass about, your readers will know. They will feel it. Why not put the same time and energy in creating unique, quality content that people will read and share? And if you hire a writer to create something that is boring, the article will bore the readers, too.

Same with the videos. No matter how much hype you put in there, people can feel the vibration, if it is genuine - they will relate to it.

Look at stuff Jason Fladlien creates - I suspect that he actually has a lot of fun doing that. His products are fantastic, because he does what he is good at, what he enjoys doing, and what sells - the golden formula I have seen a few time already

I'm not sure what you are referring to when you say you provide content to your customers. Usually you'd have to be a ghost writer or video producer if you're in the business of providing content to customers.

Following the other responses I'm answering it in a broader way regarding web content being king:

"Where do I get/find content." is the WRONG QUESTION to ask.

If you want to provide king-valued content to your site visitors then you have to CREATE it.

    • Copying other people's content makes one the king of copy and paste.
    • Searching for content and then spinning other people's copyrighted material makes one the king of crap.
Where's the value in that? Why would people expect to get valued as business when they're too lazy to provide value themselves?

This is not said against the OP, since he's looking for quality and guidance on that. It's about the popular concepts of content creation and distribution, some of which have been mentioned in this thread.

I'm not saying you should never syndicate other people's articles. I'm not saying you should not distribute (quality) spin-versions of your own articles. I'm doing it myself.

But I'm clearly saying nobody is creating VALUE by doing that. What we are doing by that is creating noise, actually making it harder for everyone to find the really good content.

Good content? King-Value content? It's out there, but it's not syndicated because it's original and took effort to create.

If you can write then write your own. If you can afford it you can outsource it as long as you find a writer that will give you good quality. Or you can use PLR but jut make sure that you rewrite it to make it unique.

Good content will always work well and there are a number of different ways to get it, it really depends on how much work you want to put into it yourself.

Content is easy to obtain. Either research the topic and write it yourself or get someone who knows a lot about the topic to write it for you. For your website, you should really only have qualified people providing content. If you want anyone to take you seriously, that is.

Very simple, actually. Traffic is what counts. With enough traffic, anyone can make money. It's a numbers game. You make up in numbers what you lack in skill, as Jim Rohn always said.

You hear these catchphrases like "content is king.' Well, great content plus lots and lots of traffic is great. But little or crappy content with lots of traffic will make more money than great content with little traffic. Traffic is simply the most important factor to success in IM.

Heck, spammers still make millions with their crap. Why? Eyes. Lots of eyes. A certain percentage buy. That's all they need if they keep getting the eyes and stay out of jail.

If you really want good content, than you are either gonna have to create it yourself or pay someone to create it for you. If you aren't a talented writer or don't know anything about your niche than be prepared to shell out decent money for worthwhile writing. I'd highly recommend taking the time and energy to find a kickass writer, because in the long run you'll be able to create an amazing site with content worth reading and linking to.

Many good writers are paid top dollar for their content they create. There are those who can't write to save their lives and don't get paid much of anything. It all depends what you are worth as a writer.

I don't agree at all. Yes you can drive traffic to some kind of content all day long, but if the content sucks, people are going to click away and never visit again.

I think good content has to work along with traffic to make it work right. When someone goes to the website with good content, it builds trust and makes people want to find out more.

You can't just put up crap and then drive traffic to it and expect it to convert. Even if you get some conversions, you could get a lot more with great content.

Crappy content with huge traffic won't work near as well as good content with huge traffic, if it works at all.

I don't drive traffic to anything but a squeeze page. Ever. Ever. Ever. The content doesn't matter. All that matters is I give them what they want, they give me their email.

              Then I own the traffic.

That depends on your viewpoint. It also depends on the audience and on your goals. If you are talking strict niche sites or squeeze pages, sure targeted traffic is good. But, if you don't have good content, this will probably only work for a short time with TONS of backlinks and SEO, constant marketing, etc. The customers will be short-lived. And if your product you are selling is ALSO filled with crappy content, how does that work?

This is the "get rich quick-throw up a webpage" mentality. For a long-term strategy, content is part of getting traffic! Even if your squeeze page gets traffic, do you think crappy sales copy is going to make you a ton of sales?

Sites that previously had high search engine rankings have lost significant traffic after the Panda update. These were PR 6 & 7 sites with TONS of content (crappy and otherwise). My passive earnings dropped tenfold on my articles I had posted on those sites. How is some brand new niche site going to compete for any serious traffic? - content. It is the most naturally way to improve SEO. Yes, there are other SEO factors, it is the combination that improves SERP.

I DO make money as a writer for sites and businesses that are not just looking for crappy content, but have a real business (many outside of IM). Traffic is irrelevant since they pay me for my writing.

In the end, if you have junky content, you will stop getting traffic. Google has caught on to this. .... unless you have serious mad, relentless marketing skills (or money to outsource all that) and are focusing on one niche that targets A LOT of people, you probably will not be successful with crappy content.

For a newbie this is a poor business move. Besides, doesn't reputation matter???

The ones you can "name" making money with crappy content - it is probably the products they are selling and the marketers reputation, not organic website traffic.

I do no SEO. I don't bother with links. If Google vanished tomorrow I would still make money.

Most of my traffic comes from offline advertising. Newspapers, magazines, radio. That's where my target audience is.

Great content is wonderful. Never said anything different. But it's not "king." Traffic is king. Tons of great content without traffic is worthless. Tons of traffic with lousy content can make you a fortune,

Don't get me wrong. I don't advocate using lousy content. But don't tell me "content is king." That's nothing but a trite phrase. Traffic is king.

Just keep writing and once you start making money, outsource to someone you trust.

I use to outsource from article websites but it was pretty inconsistent. I would get good stuff something but something HORRIBLE stuff!

I ended up search on forums for a writer and found someone I would outsource all my work from. It may not be 100% my writing style but hey, at least its good stuff non the less.

If you want, you can also post an add on craigslist looking for an article writer. since the recession, ive heard that a lot of good writers are looking for work and you can sumble across pretty decent writers for not too expensive.

In my mind, good content comes in 2 parts:

    1. The style in which it is written (plus good grammar, spelling, etc).
    2. How valuable and/or insightful the content is.

If you have one without the other, it's not good content in my mind. I think it is helpful to evaluate each piece of new content from both perspectives.

I always try to write my own content. If you have trouble writing, try taking 30 minutes or so and come up with 5-10 good topics that are related to your business / niche. I personally dislike writing, but i did this a few weeks ago and now I just pick the topic i feel like talking about and start typing. Some of them turn out decent, some i end up rewriting a couple times until I like it. But definitely having your own original content is better. When you start copying other works it can have bad results. Especially if you don't take time to read what you are copying first.

In my opinion, content is STILL king, especially creating your own content for a niche that you are passionate about and have "real-life" experience with. When it comes to marketing, buying decisions are made emotionally, and usually not logically so it helps to be skilled at producing interesting content, while at the same time "thinking" like a buyer and not a seller.

When I write an article (aka "ad") to promote a product in the area of computers and technology, my passion gets involved and the words seem to flow out of my head and onto the keyboard (or paper) without me putting much mental "effort" into the project.

Usually when I write in this "vibe", my content seems more expressive and persuasive, thus converting more buyers, than if I wrote about a subject that I had no passion for, just to get paid.

    Just my $.02

As you write more content, you may begin to find the experience enjoyable. But it's not just enough to have a niche that you are passionate about. It's got to be useful for site viewers as well. With passionate and useful content, you'll attract viewers like flies to sugar. You'll also have your content republished instead of having to republish other people's work.

Yes but without good content for that targeted traffic to go to you are dead in the water. It's not enough to just drive targeted traffic to crap content and expect conversions.

You have to have good content (which is King) for the traffic to consume and then convert into customers. Lot's of people drive massive amounts of targeted traffic to their websites everyday but the content sucks and then they wonder why they aren't getting any conversions.

I think both content and targeted traffic have to work hand in hand to make conversions successful.

        Errrr... not really.

Traffic generation is, by far, the most difficult of the two (content generation vs. traffic generation). Anyone who is experienced enough to generate targeted traffic (PPC, Google's first page, Media buys, CPA networks, etc) is certainly someone knowledgeable enough to know how to create -or outsource- good content, products and sales pages.

I repeat: targeted traffic is king... the rest (content) is easy to create/outsource.

Love it! Yep, as a writer, it is so difficult in the Internet marketing world. SEO this and that with semi-coherent content is what people want - thank goodness Google is starting to ignore crap content and content farms. Which has given me business outside of IM. (shameless plug - lol)

Professional businesses looking for long-term understand about content being king and are willing to pay for it.

On the other hand, if you are looking for content for a website with semi-coherent writing and lots of links, there is a TON of people you can hire for a measly $10 an article (or even less). Or write it yourself. Depends on your goals - not sure what you mean by providing content to your customers....

Tired of paying for low-quality writing? If you care about your reputation, get Professional Writing Services for your business needs.

If you can not afford to pay for unique content, why not get limited PLR articles for your website?

There are a lot of good places to find quality articles that you can either spin, have someone spin for you, or pay someone to write the articles for you. A lot of outsourcing companies offer writing services for relatively low prices, and can write them to your specifications. If you like to write, it's always best to write them yourself, but if lack the time or patience for writing, the outsourcing the task is the way to go for sure

Spin some PLR or someone else's content. If you want quality content, then just do a better spinning job. Then ad some traffic to the mix.

How about hiring outsourcing hubs to do it for you. It is more easier to hire firms that specializes in this this kind of market. This way you will be sure to have the quality of content that you are looking for.

There are spinners available that will help you to control articles. However, the best way is to write it yourself. Some important elements of a good article is its originality, its length, its relevance, user interest, its topics.

Besides of seeking keyword ideas from google adwords tool you can also make reference of articles from article directories. Also, you can try to get inspiration from PLR content or like others say, well spin. But that is a different story.

You have to outsource it by hiring outsourcing hubs out there. As you can see they seemed to be everywhere since it is in demand today for easy access. You can also screen people that are capable of writing quality content on your sites. And as what most suggested, write it your self. No one can satisfy you but your self aside from the works of the experts of course.

The best to get a great content is to create your own article. If you can't do it on your own, hire a writer to do the task.

I can say that content is king and traffic is queen. Since if the content is like updated regularly then the continuous traffic will just keep coming and will follow. Because the content is updated more or past viewers tend to come back to check updates and new post.
