Videos or Forums? Your opinion on the best first place to start rank building

Just wondering in your own experience, which one gives you more return in your time investment.

A friend talks very highly about building better ranking and good backlinks from forums... but I seem to get better results in rank boost when i use youtube as my first backlink building...

not just google.. yahoo and bing also rank you well for longtail keywords, less than 2000 search volume and low page result competition (-100).

would like to get your opinion.

    Video every time if you want to rank quickly. Its not necessarily a long term strategy but for an hour or two spent making and distributing a video you can be on Page 1 in a day or 2 if you optimise properly.

    Forums are great though for a longer term more sustainable presence on Page 1.

    If you have had better luck with youtube. Why not just stick with it instead of exploring forums.
