Newbe domain name question?

I recently bought a few domain names which i was suprised wasn't already taken, I didn't get the .com....but i did get the .net .co and a few others....i spent $ 12 bucks only because i was so suprised it was available...I figured there should be something to do with it...the brand reaches 1.7 million viewers per episode and has reached aan agreement to do another 20 episodes...the show is a hit and the name wass availabale....what would you do with it? Does having a .net get you that much of a leg up...the question is this...what if you stumbled onto spongebob.net or something equally marketable...same age range?

    You could run into trademark problems possibly. That may be why the domain was available.

    That said, if you do a fan site or a forum, then they may just leave you alone. There are plenty of fan sites in the entertainment industry that could technically be trademark infringement. However, if you try to do a straight out commerce site, you might run into problems.

      I have learned (from personal experience!!!!!!) that trademark names in domain names are ticking time-bombs.

      It's a game of playing russian roulette making those types of sites.

      Not like anything REALLY bad can happen, but if they want you to take down the site, then all your work is down the drain...and boom, you've wasted months and months of content creation and backlinking.

      There's plenty of other (and much better) domain names out there.

    The .com may get you some type in traffic. The .net and .co is going to have to be put in front of the searchers face to get traffic.

    You need to consider the fact that you don't have a right to the domain if it's trademarked (like sponge bob). They may or may not come after you.

    I can tell you from experience that many companies will enforce their trademark. Usually, you'll get a "cease & desist" letter before anything bad comes your way.

    Most liked you've a Trademarked domain.
    I don't care what anyone would tell you about all the ways
    around it.
    Some where along the line you will be doing something the
    owner wont like it and will decide to come after you.
    Don't invest time and money for a lost matter already.
    Let the domain die -do not sale it- and sleep well at night.
    Last but not least check with a lawyer.

    I try to steer clear of these type of domains as well...

    But with that said, IF I DID have this domain, I would try to make it a fan site of some sort and def add a forum to it.

    Only prob I see with that is, if it is Nick Jr it might target an age group that is too low... meaning they can't buy anything (w/o parent's CC) so you might have to stick with Adsense for monetizing it...

    I forget is Nick Jr for little kids or is that the one targeted to middle school age kids?
