Hey everybody. My name is Dan Watson. I have been unemployed since about September when I was laid off. I have worked a couple little jobs here and there but have been doing a LOT of research on internet marketing the last few months. I am 28 years old but at this point I am about flat broke since the job market is so terrible right now. I have a business plan that centers around review sites for amazon with a couple little twists that I think may help as well.

I am going to have to move back in with my father next week and will have to find a simple part time job at least to cover bills like cell phone, insurance and stuff like that but I am hoping this will actually be a blessing in disguise because my father is extremely intelligent when it comes to computers and business in general. He has been helping with this business plan and seems to have quite a bit of faith in it as well. I don't know much about creating websites but I am a decent writer and have been working on the content for about 10 different product niches with about half a dozen products in each niche getting a full review for each product as well as an article for each niche.

My goal for soon after the launch of my site is to also release and sell an E-Book for a low price that has hyperlinks to certain products in the amazon store that I will be mentioning in the book but also have links to my site when I talk about similar topics in certain chapters. my father has purchased a website with a great keyword friendly url and has installed wordpress with the review theme. I am hoping within the next couple weeks to have my site up with all the reviews and niches.

Like I said before, the plan is about 10 different niches with about 6 or 7 products in each niche. I have purposefullly included two different niches in which the products are a bit less expensive than the suggested $100-200 but it is a niche in which I know a lot about and I am hoping that having a niche or two with less expensive items may increase total sales and bump up my commision percentage on everything. Almost every other product in the other niches is about $200 or so.

I dont expect to release the E-Book for about a month or so. It is mostly written and I would like it to be sooner but I am trying to be realistic. Another idea behind the book is that not only will the readers come into contact with my site in information but the other great benefit is that if it even somewhat popular, it will be spread around and copied for free and go viral creating lots and lots of backlinks to my sites and affiliate links. I would be losing money on people copying the book but money from the actual E-Book sales arent the main objective here. I am thinking the final price of the E-book will only be around either $8.99 or $3.99 it depends on how many pages it ends up being when its finallly all formatted and ready to put in a PDF format and sell.

I know this is getting a little long winded but I have been reading this site for a while and there seems to be a lot of several very intelligent and successful individuals on this board. I just wanted to lay my plan out (without giving away too many details) and I hope to keep you all posted on the progress. Any and all feedback is both greatly appreciated and welcome.

Dan, I have not and will not read your post the way it is, but I can offer you a huge suggestion....

    Learn paragraphs.

EDIT: Well done. It is now readable. Unfortunately, I have lost interest.

        Hey... welcome.

What's your name? At least a first name, if you want. But it will help in
a forum if you want to eventually do business here and all that good stuff.

        Ain't Brian a treat? lol

I read your entire post, all of it. Sounds like a plan. Have you ever thought
about charging less? If the ebook has good information, and you keep the
price well under $5... maybe even .99, imagine that, then people will be blown
        away.

Making sites is easy. Might want to keep it to blogs. There are lots of cool
themes around. You can check out the FlexSqueeze them, free and paid versions.

If you get a free theme, be sure to notice they just about all have links in the
footer from the developer. Also be aware of encrypted code in the theme files
        with free themes.

        Anyway... welcome to the machine.

Thank you. My name is Dan Watson
I apreciate the input about the E-Book. I will most likely not make the price $8.99 simply because I DO want to sell a high quantity of them and have them spread fairly quickly. There was a couple things though that made me want to go higher AND lower in price. As I said before, Ive been trying to learn a lot about this business and Ive been watching a lot of youtube videos as well. One guy said an easy way to make money was to make an ebook telling how to make an ebook. he said he sold it for $9.99 and made a fortune on it.

I guess I can let go of enough information to tell you my ebook is not about writing an ebook. It is about fitness. I have been involved with training myself and others for almost a decade now and I have had several people tell me I should write a book about what I know on the subject so I figure I might as well kill two birds with one stone. I dont want my first ebook to be extremely gritty or go into too much detail as i dont want to scare away the average reader. I am thinking around 100 pages.

The reason I had decided against a lower price such as $0.99 is that I have read in multiple places that people see any digital product with a price of less than a dollar as garbage and wont even give it a try.

Any thoughts or experience in that area?

            Hey Dan...

I'm curious about the time frame with that ebook you mentioned.

I dont want my first ebook to be extremely gritty or go into too much detail as i dont want to scare away the average reader. I am thinking around 100 pages.
Some people like extremely gritty. I do. No kidding. Has to do with
no bs. I've been involved with fitness all my life. Mainly long distance
running when I was younger until I developed a knee problem - sucks
because I really love running. Also, martial arts and other Eastern things
            related to it.

About 100 pages is fine. You mentioned sellng Amazon products which is
cool. But considering your experience, have you thought about developing
your fitness ebook into your own product and business?

Yes, the price point will depend on your market, audience and what you
offer in the ebook. You could use the ebook as a way to draw people into
your marketing funnel - overused term but applicable. Give them good, solid
and actionable info, but don't give away the farm.

Then you can make a higher end product out of video and charge more. Be
sure to build an email list. Do not be concerned with upfront profits because
the very best are on the back-end. Lower price points up front, progressively
            higher moving toward the back.

Segment you mailing list. Separate buyers from non-buyers. Your buyers are
proven, and you can make higher end offers to them only. Keep building a solid
relationship with everybody, but keep sending good content to non-buyers. Send
            very good content to buyers.

When people have bought all you have to offer, then you can continue marketing
            to them with affiliate products.

That is just an idea but contains proven strategies.

The reason I had decided against a lower price such as $0.99 is that I have read in multiple places that people see any digital product with a price of less than a dollar as garbage and wont even give it a try.

Any thoughts or experience in that area?
Yes, I have both thoughts and experiences with my own digital product as
well as helping others create and market their own.

There is a young lady, early 20s, who has been selling her .99 ebooks on
Amazon Kindle for several years. I believe she has made upper six figures
to low million range. She writes fiction and has landed a book deal worth
            several million.

But for your market, I wouldn't do that with such a low price. It all depends
on what you offer in the ebook. If it is something that fitness followers
have seen before, it won't do well - I'm guessing.

There are many fitness products online, and offline, as I'm sure you know. So
hopefully you can bring something new to the table for people.

If you offer something compelling, then I would start "testing" price points
            around the $10 area.

You can setup a ppc campaign at Bing/Yahoo with a small content site and
a sales letter and see how it converts at different price points. You could
use a straight sales letter, but realize your conversions will be lower for only
a sales letter because most will not buy after one exposure to sales copy.

You could try to get optins and do email marketing for testing, but that will
drag it out. So maybe do it without attempting list building "at that point" but
definitely do it later when you have a price you want to go with.

But since this is the lower priced lead-in product, then find a price that is
a good balance in that it does not create the impression that it is cheap. But
do not over-charge for it. You will make more profits on the back-end.

You could also create a video bonus, or two, with additional info such as
demonstrating techniques in the ebook or adding something new.

A great thing to consider is to write your ebook not holding back on the information. Make it worth its weight in useful content.

Then, adapt your main points into a smaller version that doesn't explain EVERYTHING but does cover the primary focus of the ebook. Give good information in the report, just don't give it all away.

Now what you can do is use the free report to build a contact list of prospects interested in your ebook, and you can use the report to "soft sale" the main book. Part of the power of influence is that people don't like things being left out. They want a thought finished when the curiosity for it has been sparked.

If they want the full information, they can purchase your ebook directly from the report. What you want to do is include giveaway rights to your report so that they can share it with whoever they want.

Also, you can use a free affiliate program - I prefer PayGear Affiliate Program because after a lot of comparing they are the cheapest (every sale has a small percentage transaction fee, the program is free to join and own). Their offer is the best free affiliate center available.

If you use a rebranding software / script, the free report can be rebranded with affiliate links by the people that opt in to your list and they will share the report as well to build their own list which promotes your product and helps them earn a commission for doing so.

You can even charge for the rebranding rights of the report when someone purchases the ebook as an upsell to the original purchase.

These are just some ideas to play around with, if you have any questions please feel free to email me at cskmobi@gmail.com, I'll do what I can to help you because I know where you are coming from and really want to help.

    God bless,
    Chris

Sounds like you have a really solid plan here.

Work on it everyday and it'll all be up and running before you know it. Pricing is something that doesn't come easy to me, but you basically just have to test to see which point sells best. You don't want to "give" it away, but that same product that sold well for 99 cents might sell like crazy at 9.99. You just have to find out what that magic number is that people think the information is worth paying for.
