Began doing some research work about Google News site. Seems to be a worthwhile venture.

It's a very worthwhile venture. Google News sites get tons of traffic effortlessly and are worth a lot of money if you flip them. Last one I saw sold on Flippa went for $11,000. I enjoy working on news sites. I'm a news junkie anyway, so it's not work to me.

Do a search for a member here named E Brian Rose. He is the authority on setting up Google News sites. And I believe he's now offering his program for free.

Actually, I suspect he will be along momentarily

Getting into Google news is not as hard as people think and it is a great venture. You need the appearance of a news organization, so here are some quick hints to get you started.

    - You need an Editors page complete with profile pictures, email addresses and your complete contact info, including a physical address. It can be your home address or a PO Box, but you need something.

    - You need to add content daily and plenty of it. What I have done as a single person doing this is stick to one niche and that is all. That way, you can add some great news quickly.

    - Keep the news on TV at all times and listen for news in your niche. Write about it and gather some quotes from the AP. This will really help you out with credibility and also get you some nice traffic.

    - Finally, write professionally and pay attention to details. You can get in, just make sure you devote the proper time to doing it.

Agree with all of that, especially sticking to niche news unless you actually do have a big staff of writers to cover all the topics in a general news site. I didn't add an Editor's photo, but the contact info is essential.

I choose niches that I actually like so writing for them is a lot easier if you enjoy the niche. You can always outsource writing also.

Thanks guys and great info. Grin with smile

To say, the domain name must be something generic though it wise to choose a niche

The domain doesn't have to be generic and doesn't have to have the word news in it. I have a lot of brandable domains that I would use for a Google News site. Brandables work well in Google News. Think TechCrunch, Huffington Post, Mashable. They are all brandables that are Google News sites.
