The ups and downs of IM

This is something I've been experiencing lately...

For example, lets say that on a Monday, I'll come up with some idea - like for a new niche site, cpa campaign idea, etc. The next day or so, I'll do lots of research, perhaps purchase a wso on the topic. 2 days after that, it fizzles away. Its like I go from being gung-ho about something to being dazed and confused a few days later. Does this happen to you? How do you stay motivated and on track?

Are you taking IM seriously like having a business? It sounds to me like you need to make up your mind on what you are going to do, get serious and look at it as a business. Focus. If you don't, this is the outcome. You'll always get excited about the next new "thing" and never get anywhere.

I am! Promise! I think the problem is that I have all these new ideas and then get excited to implement them.

Pick one thing and stick with it. Kinda like having tunnel vision. Write those ideas down for later implementation and do what you know you need to do right now. If you don't you will continue to be all over the place. I had the same problem and now am focusing. It can be hard, but it must be done in order to get anywhere.

Yeah I think that happened to me so much. Something good you can do is when you get an idea you want to invest in, take a note of it and write or type it out and put it to the side but make sure it's an idea that really inspires you and makes you take action so it would be hard to forget.

Then when ever you get new stuff to add to it, take out what you written before and add it and after a while you will have an idea that may have the potential to be a product, service or maybe even a business in itself.

Why not try finding a business partner? Someone who can keep you on track, just as you keep them on track. Sometimes two heads are better than one, and the right JV could be very lucrative.

    Hi Sodevious,

I guess this is common for all internet marketers as we usually got lots of idea/creativity juice running around. But Utimately we need to put focus on one or few of the good potential ideas and go serious about it before "commit" yourself with new ideas.

    Cheers.

I'm regularly dazed and confused. LOL

I TOTALLY get what you're saying.

        1. This is a good argument for being VERY clear on 1) your business model (products, services or membership-based programs), 2) your niche and 3) your target market.

Once you're clear on all three, it helps you focus and stay on track, which means you're more likely to make money. Definitely play and experiment in your business. But if you keep it within the confines of your business model, niche and target market, it's much more profitable. Which means you're not likely to get as discouraged and frustrated.

        2. I think it's especially hard when you're working alone, without support. Yes, the WF is a great support. But it's not the same as having co-workers in a workplace or being in some sort of a coaching program where you have contact with your coach and possibly the other coaching members.

Being in a coaching group assuages entrepreneurial loneliness, keeps you focused, provides a sounding board, etc.

For this reasons, I think being in a coaching program is invaluable. Entrepreneurship is very lonely most of the time. And as you realize, loneliness is very counterproductive. I'm very much a DIY person and put more stock in infoproducts than coaching. That is, until I was in my first-ever group coaching program last year. I'm not in it this year and am really feeling it.

Do any of your ideas totally inspire you to fully implement? How about working on them for the long term?

If you were told that you'd never make any money on any of the projects you started, is there any you would continue with just because you like it? That's probably your best project (as long as it can be monetized in some fashion).

I've jumped into niches/projects because I thought they were a good money-making opportunity. I didn't care much for the niche, but it seemed like there was money to be made. Trouble was I wasn't really into them so I didn't build them into a business.

I have several small sites I've started, only to be ignored by me because I really didn't care to build in those niches. BUT, I have a couple of sites that really excite me, and those are the sites I build because I really like building them. Not coincidentally, I make the most money on those sites.

I'm not saying I'm altruistic - I aspire to earn from my sites, but I find it's much more fun working on the few projects that I'm passionate about.

Once you start earning okay money, you can complete your "less-favorable" projects through outsourcing to see if they will earn money. Build the good ones and dump the losers. Personally work on the projects that inspire you.

My jumping around for a while (I still fall victim to taking tangents once in a while) was based on info-overload, impatience, and wanting to implement this new-found skill-set of Online marketing in too many directions.

Once I decided to focus on a few (2 to 3) projects I love, I was earning 2 to 4 thousand a month within 6 months (of course I spent many months learning this gig before I saw any money). Now I have the funds to outsource some work to see if some of those projects I'm not wild about working on can be developed into worthwhile projects while focusing my efforts on the projects I love.

Whether a project succeeds or fails, I learn something that I can apply to the sites I really care about. I test conversion and SEO on my less-favorite sites, and then apply what works to all my sites.

Again, focus on 1 to 3 projects until you're earning. Some say focus on only 1 project. I get a bit bored with only 1 project, so I focus on 2 to 3at a time. The point is focus and have a plan. Once you earn, you can outsource to expand other projects or just keep building your chosen few projects.

Yeah, everyone has sometimes an inspiring idea, but when it comes you shouln't let it go or put it off till tomorrow. Those ideas are like your lovely person- you don't see any lack on her/him. So if you put it into action with good armed research and knowledge, that can bring viral profits in any niche.
