Commenting on Splogs

There seems to be lots more splogs around.

Particularly when you search on certain keywords.

Do you think it is wise to add comments to these splogs to gain backlinks or do you think this is associating yourself with 'bad neighborhoods'.

  • This is the first I've heard of them, so I had to do a Google search. Wikipedia equates them to spamming techniques, here:

To me, they sound like something to stear clear of. Just my opinion.

I believe the "bad neighborhood" thing only affects you if YOU are linking to THEM. I don't believe that any incoming link can hurt you. If that were the case, your competitors could simply set up a network of spam blogs and put out tons of backlinks to all of their competition to de-value their pages.

I'm not an SEO expert but I don't believe an incoming link can penalize your site.
