How many pages constitutes for a decent authority site? I am working on an authority sit e and want to know at what point can I start to see decent money come in on an authority site. Is it 100 pages? 200, 300 or more?

That really depends on several factors, including your niche and competition. With low competition genres, some sites can become "authority" with just a few articles. With high competition niches, it can be much more but it's certainly achievable.

What's important is to stay consistent. Whether you are writing one post a day or 5 or 10, keep the posts consistent and you'll build your traffic quite quickly.

An authority site, like a good reputation, is largely for others to decide.

      This.

It doesn't matter how much content you have if other people think that the content is crap.

If someone else had written the content on your site, and you were a visitor, would you purchase? Would you click on the links? This can sometimes be a good test of 'authority.'

An authority site isn't necessarily determined by counting the pages. More pages of fluff and such won't make your site an authority, but good solid pages with easily understood content are much more likely to.

Part of the issue is how much traffic you are getting, and how many independent backlinks exist to the site. More backlinks typically means more authority. However , just because you buy a bunch of backlinks doesn't mean you will gain a lot of authority. It has to do with where the backlinks come from (and if the linking sites are recognized as "link farms". Backlinks from link farms are essentially useless for most purposes, especially when you are trying to build authority.

Just because you have a lot of pages doesn't mean you will become an authority site. The pages need to have relevant content, and that content has to change from time to time.
