Looks like a previous item you sold (prev month or prior) was returned for a net loss on your balance.

om my gosh i can't believe amazon would charge you if they got a refund... just seems weird?!

  • Wouldn't that suck to get a bill in the mail for $2.57 from Amazon?

"I help you make money, and you're sending me a bill?!"

They won't actually send you a bill. It was just appear as a negative until you generate more sales to push it back onto the positive side.

You had a return. Don't worry though, they'll just take out of your pay next time you sell something. They will not bill you.

I'm not seeing how this could have happened. Amazon wouldn't issue you payment on your commissioned sales until after the commission itself was locked. This means that even if there was a refund on that item, they couldn't go back and take away your commission.

This is why you have to wait so many days to receive payment from them.

Um why would this stop you lol. Merchants at ShareASale and CJ scrub commissions all the time. The point of the matter is, I'm not sure how he has a negative balance. I've never received a payment from Amazon until after the commission sale has been locked--which means they can't scrub it.

Would that that were true. Despite the 1-2 month lag from sale to payment, Amazon doesn't apply refunds to a prior month once they've closed bookkeeping on that month (at least, this is how it's always worked on my account).

I frequently start out a month with a negative balance because someone returns something they bought the prior month.

Must be because of refunds. Get it back positive and you should be ok.

So if product refunded, you not only get 0 omission, but also minus delivery fee?
Why advertiser don't pay the fee, but us?

How is it ridiculous that a company would remove a commission when a sale has been essentially "voided". The commission is now invalid.

Because that would be insanely stupid.

Let me give you an idea of what you're suggesting. Ok, so a merchant aka "Amazon" in this case, is selling a TV... The TV costs $1000, and the commission is $100.

Now, the person orders this TV, and you are paid your commission of $100 on your cheque (check for americans). Now, a month later the person returns this item to Amazon, because the picture quality sucks, or something etc..

Now Amazon returns the $1000 back to the PERSON. However, Amazon only has $900 of that $1000 in there account, because the other $100 has been paid to YOU as a commission. Which means, that they are going to take a loss of $100 because they can't return the commission.

"Why doesn't advertiser pay the fee". There is no essential fee here, there is a return of a product, and a refund issued... If you were in Amazon's shoes here, and you had $10,000+ out in commissions on sales refunded, would you just "pay the fees" on every refund, and give affiliates a commission for a sale that was voided by a refund.

EVERY single affiliate network I've been in has this as a policy. I've made thousands upon thousands as an affiliate, trust me.. this is nothing new.

Cannot believe how many people don't immediately realise this is because of a returned item. It's obvious.

I don't know why you're getting burnt for the refund. That sort of sucks. Amazon should pick up the 2.57.
