How long meta description need and What will happened if you use about 500 character meta description ?

    Most search engines only use 160 characters for the meta description, so just keep it 160 characters or less.

      I agree with Nick, but to answer the 2nd part of your question: nothing.

      Nothing will happen if you use more than a tweet's worth of characters. The search engines will ignore anything after the first 150 to 160 characters.

        I don't know. That's a very old-school trick, and they definitely will ignore the extra characters for search engine results, but I'm thinking if the OP leaves them in he might get penalized for stuffing. Of course, with search engines you never really can tell, for sure.

        I'm definitely no SEO expert, though.

    Search engine only take 160 characters. So, we should use only 160 character meta description.

    According to Google meta tag description length is 163 character. But if you use more then 163 character nothing will be happened, only search engine not read after 163 character so it is useless, why will you write more then 163 character.
