Anyone with a weight-loss site, please help me...

This site drives me NUTS.

I am getting 600-700 daily, unique visitors...no thrash traffic but traffic from UK and US. But i have a hell of a time selling anything, unlike on any other of my sites.

According to statistics, if i assume a really "meh" clickbank conversion rate of 1:100..i should at least make some sales/day.

I cycled through and already featured the top CB products like TDSP, fatloss4idiots etc.

I need someone with a site in the same niche and an ok conversion rate who can advise me what format/product work(ed) for him best, eg. reviews/banners..text links etc....i tried EVERYTHING in the books already (which otherwise works on my other sites).... baffled...

Just a heads up that conversion rates for the weight-loss industry can typically be 1:500 visitors. I don't have any experience in this market myself but that's what I've heard from others and seems understandable, so I wouldn't really be expecting a 1% conversion rate. In this sort of situation, anyway.

Still, even with 1 sale out of every 500 visitors, you should be making sales. Presumably you know how many people are actually clicking through and visiting the OFFER page?

    Matt

Write articles and submit them directly to authoritive sites and ezines. If you position yourself as knowledgable with well-researched articles, buyers are much more likely to make decisons based on your "recommendations". This works for this and also each and every one of similarly highly competitive niches of I which market to.

Are you building a list? I haven't had an active weight loss site in a couple years, but, when I did have one, I remember it was ridiculously easy to build a list. I had used an incentive to sign up (join my list for this free eBook) and it wasn't hard work to get people to subscribe.

    I had a small list, but I'm pretty sure I wasn't getting 600-700 visitors a day.

Dan's content is irregularly read by handfuls of people. Join the elite few by reading his blog: dcrBlogs.com, following him on Twitter: dcrTweets.com or reading his fiction: dcrWrites.com but NOT by Clicking Here!

Dan also writes content for hire, but you can't afford him anyway.

I can't help you, but I think it's funny because I posted almost an identical thread in another area because I have the same problem. I don't get quite as much traffic as you, more like 100+ uniques, but the conversion rate is ridiculously low. I'm just beginning to think that the vast majority of people who search for weight loss terms are freebie seekers.

The main problem, as with most highly competitve niches is that there are a lot of scams, misconceptions, misinformation, confusion, bad products, and rightly so a very high degree of skepticism and mistrust.

Do the keywords you are using to market your site really match your site's offering/information? I know you have unique traffic - but is it really as targeted as it could be?

I had the best luck in the fitness niche offering at home work out plans. I was a personal trainer for 10 years before doing IM so I could easily create top notch workouts and diet plans for clients. This became the best opening product to push. Priced anywhere from $5-$10 works really well.

A mini-membership format converted decently as well. This was pretty much the same thing as above, except it was a 3-12 month workout/diet schedule emailed once per week to them. They would pay $5-$15/month for.

Once on my membership site or my buyer's list, supplement sales would kick in and do well. But, it was pretty worthless for me to promote these supplements before they purchased one of my workouts.

The products you mentioned above, fat loss for idiots...etc, didn't convert well for me at all.

P.S. The workout plans and diets were ALWAYS specific to a health problem or worry that the market has. For example, there were no "weight loss" work out plans...but there were "lose cellulite", "lose the flat tire", etc workouts.

Anyone well versed in the fitness industry knows that these workout plans really would not be anything different except a little more concentration on the targeted area to give the client an extra burn. Either way, they will lose fat at the same pace.

GeorgR, I run a general dieting site that is pushing the 2k UV mark/day. You will need to look hard at the searches (traffic) hitting your site but I think you will find a variety of users looking at your site, they aren't all buyers.

My focus with the site was purely adsense so I was careless with the way the information was presented and went brute force to get traffic. If it wasn't my first site and I knew then what I know now I would have changed my approach and went more personal, creating a site that became a community and a trusted resource.

Having a general site makes it hard to just put up a product that will apply to all readers. It also means you need to interrupt their original goal to get them to notice what you are selling. You will be better off looking at individual pages and finding a product perfect for that page.

Don't just look at Clickbank either. Amazon is another trusted resource that you can use to sell books, fitness equipment, supplements etc. Find the best item for your particular page and the traffic it is getting. (There are some great quality PLR products as other alternatives).

I am adapting my site slowly by finding the pages that aren't performing with AdSense and finding out why. Often these pages are review pages or specific product pages. Once I realised this pattern I started finding affiliate programs for the products my traffic (for that page) was already interested in. It worked like a dream.

I haven't tried converting more general pages into lead generation or digital product sales yet but that is the plan when I get more time.

You won't find a product that suits a large audience like the weight loss niche. You need to work with the traffic you already have and help them find a solution to their problem rather than trying to sidetrack them to a potentially different problem all together.
