Hello fellow warriors,

Was wondering, i found a keyword with 6000 exact local searches, the exact domain name with .org is available.
Its top 10 competitors are, wikipedia number one, it has a blogspot on number 4 and 2 others with exact name in domain.
What do you guys think? Should i go for it?

"keyword" in google = 593.000 results

How backlinks does the Wikipedia page have. This should be your main concern, generally it is never over 100, thus why Wikipedia is easily beatable. On top of that the best strategy is having the Wikipedia page itself beat in backlinks + having your link on the Wikipedia page for traffic and link (even though it is no-follow)

Be careful when going up against Wikipedia

    a) They have TONS of credibility with Google
    b) They are the masters of inbound linking <--- This means that they can have inbound backlinks from other high PR wikipedia pages (some pages go as high as PR 7!)

So if you aren't happy with 2nd position or you aren't confident you have a master plan of beating Wikipedia... good luck.

    MEOzyn,

Wow that is nearly unheard of but not a hinderance, what you know now is that you need more then 284 backlinks lol.

I would check their backlinks and see if you can utilize any of their backlinks that they received.

Look for some high PR blogs to comment on, ScrapeBox, DoFellow are two pieces of software that can automate that process.

It is all always beatable, sometimes it will be harder to beat, but if you keep at it you will beat them out. I have beaten Wikipedia and Amazon 100's of times...

    just do it man.

Wikipedia are an AUTHORITY site as far as Google is concerned, it's almost impossible to beat them to number one spot - but - you could be number two!
