Forum on my website

I have a membership site I want to add a forum onto. I want to the forum to operate within the site and not just the site a forum if that makes sense so i can still have all my other pages and run the forum from the forum section.

Is there any free wordpress plugins which set up a good basic forum like on here where I can set the sections?:confused:

      I know there are numerous forum plugins but just wanted to ask those who have used any which they think are best.

        All you do is install the forum to a folder in your public_html and then just use hyperlinks that way you not screwing with your wordpress blog itself.

    This is a forum plugin for WP WordPress › Mingle Forum « WordPress Plugins

    but almost all the major forum softwares have some kind of bridge that connects the forum and your blog

    You could use buddy press or mingle. I like mingles look compared to buddy press.
