Definition of Success

What is your definition of Success?

My definition of Success is to have
a lot of time and money.
No point having a lot of money
but don't have the time to spend.
Or have a lot of free time,
but don't have money to spend.

What do you think?...

To get up in the morning, to go to bed in the evening, and in between to do whatever you want.

Ripping off Bob Dylan there, I think, open to correction.

For my own two cents, its having the money from what I do to free up my time, time, as in freedom basically, is the real goal. Find something that works for you, outsource + upscale the hell out of it.

Thus giving you time and money, just my two cents from my own experience

Success = Figuring out what to do that allows me to do what I want, whenever I want and where I want. ... and doing it!

Honestly, I can never define success. I don't believe in success. I do what I want, and that's the end of it.

    Terrencewan,

That is a rather broad question

So I will pick one of my success/goal definitions.

My first stage of retirement is to know that whether I get out of bed or not, there is more money coming into the account than going out.

That way when I do get up I know I can choose to do whatever I want.

That will involve some work, so that I can work to grow the margin, so that one day I can retire fully as the margin will be enough to no longer work.

I wonder if anyone else has the same goals?

Success is the completion of anything intended. In other words success is finishing what you planned to do.

    • Ah, was in a discussion like this not a while back actually.
IMHO, success to me is complete and total acceptance of one's self and circumstances and understanding that one is able to shape them any way they see fit.

success is dependent on your level of satisfaction, success may be a small thing to achieve or bigger wish which never accomplished.

Success to me is having freedom to do what I want to do. Not having to worry about money every month, being able to travel, not having to work on my business 100% of the time yet still make money, and being able to take time away from paid activities to do non-paid activities that benefit others.

I think we all have different versions of success, but it definitely comes down to freedom rather than an arbitrary amount of money.

Success to me differs from one person to another. Everyone has his/her own definition for success. Success is subjective; to me success is when I achieve something which I do.

I am sure this thread will run for a while, but here's my take on it.

I see it a series of steps.
    - Getting out of the situation that was causing the problem
    - Starting on the new path to change things
    - Making that area work profitably
    - Begin to enjoy the fruits of the new change
    - Relax and enjoy the benefits for years to come
    - Mission accomplished, success has been achieved!!

That's how it worked for me anyway, I'm sure we all want our own slant on work freedom.

While success can be defined differently for each person. I think theres a middle ground where everyone agrees that having a nice home, car and lifestyle are the trappings of success.

For me, specifically, it means not having to worry about money. Being able to focus more on the quality of my life and helping those less fortunate.
